Your personal tier list?
I'm curious to see where everybody ranks their characters in terms of "usefullness" regarding gameplay ofc, ignoring story and personality etc. Obviously it would be different for some players as well as they may choose to take a different approach towards the game.

Here's my probably ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tier list:

Tier 1 (Best Characters)

Marko - Pretty self-explanatory imo, Marko is at least passable in everything. He can guard, he can fight, he can cheer people up, he doesn't have any addictions and he isn't abstinent either. In addition to that he gets 15 backpack slots which I find to be very useful; he is a viable choice for every situation other than killing civilians.

Katia - Not a good choice for combat, but her trade bonus is huge and really gets in a lot of extra stuff. Other than that she has a decent inventory space of 12 making her a good backup scavenger and she seems to be pretty good at cheering people up.

Tier 2 (Pretty Good Characters)

Pavle - Despite the fact that he's my favorite character, I have to say he feels like a not-as-good Marko. They both are able to fill all roles; the only difference is that Pavle runs quicker while Marko has 3 extra slots and although running quicker can be useful for creating a pile at the beginning it's more fun than it is useful. Still a good character though; if I had to choose a character to solo with Pavle would definitely be my second choice.

Christo (The Little Ones DLC) - Alright I'm not really going to repeat this because I'm lazy rofl. He's a jack of all trades character like Pavle and Marko. "Determined Father" seems to make him require less sleep.

Forester (Custom Character) - Yeah I'd call him/her another all-around jack of all traders character. Trait makes him/her get more wood, and seems to be decent at everything.

Marin - I haven't really spent much time with Marin but he has proved himself useful each playthrough. Definitely saves a lot of materials. Other than that Marin doesn't seem to have much else going for him or going against him except maybe his coffee addiction.

Boris - Similarly to Marin, I haven't used him much, but those 17 backpack slots were extremely useful. Other than that I didn't really use him for any unique reason.

Tier 3 (Just Average)

Bruno - I never really found cooking to be a big problem, especially if you choose to upgrade the stove, but I suppose it's still a decent skill.

Zlata - She doesn't really do anything special. Bolster Spirits is pretty unnecessary; it isn't bad by any means but it's really not needed. 12 backpack slots isn't bad though.

Psychologist (Custom Character) - Same thing as Zlata. Her trait isn't unwelcome but it rarely comes in handy.

Police Officer (Custom Character) - I don't usually focus on combat (although it's still a nice bonus sometimes, ex. The Soldier at the Supermarket) so the police officer isn't very useful for me; good guard and decent inventory space though.

Tier 4 (Meh)

Pharmacist (Custom Character) - I usually just trade for medicine, so the trait isn't all that useful. Don't really use pharmacist much though so I don't really know.

Insurance Agent (Custom Character) - He/she is pretty much just a mediocre Katia. Gets a bonus when trading; other than that he/she can't fight and is incapable at comforting others.

Computer Specialist (Custom Character) - It's a large discount but on a small number of things. Not really worth it imo. Can't do anything else really.

Photographer (Custom Character) - I don't really know what his/her ability does, maybe it has something to do with loot piles or detecting movement or something, but that's just a theory and so I'm going to assume the trait might just be useless like "Loves Children" was (or used to be, maybe it helps in The Little Ones DLC).

Arica - Again, I don't focus that much on combat and she doesn't offer much other than the ability to steal easily. However stealing isn't that hard with the other characters and she loses the ability to lure enemies with it, while also being a smoker and having a mediocre 10 backpack slots.

Tier 5 (Below Average)

Roman - Everybody loves Roman but idk. He just causes too much trouble with him getting into arguments and fights with other survivors. Of course I could take him out scavenging to avoid that, but he's only got 10 backpack slots. He just not my guy.

Irina (The Little Ones DLC) - She gets a discount when planting vegetables; kind of nice but not necessary at all. The whole herbal garden thing is pretty expensive to make anyway.

Tier 6 (Detrimental)

Henrik (The Little Ones DLC) - He runs slow, has a mediocre 10 backpack slots, and his trait gives him a discount on making tobacco, which is rarely a problem for me. I usually don't even make tobacco and if I did, I would welcome discounts on other things much more.

Emilia - The only thing Emilia is "good" at is for killing if you don't have any better options. She's okay at combat and doesn't get heavily affected by it, but otherwise she does have anything going for her.

Cveta - As anyone would have expected she's pretty low in the tier list lol. Her only positive trait is that she can cheer people up fairly easily. Other than that she doesn't really have anything going for her: she can't fight and she has the smallest inventory size along with Anton.

Tier 7 (Worst)

Anton - Probably just me, I prefer Cveta over Anton. Apparently Anton catches rats quicker, but I haven't really noticed it having a very positive effect so even if it is there, it's probably negligible. He runs slower than Cveta, he isn't as good at consoling others, and he's abstinent, so he can't drink to cheer himself up like Cveta can.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obviously the children are all the same so they aren't in there. Although it would be cool if they had some unique traits. Idk ex. Misha is the "Neighborhood Kid" so maybe he gets more help from neighbors, Kalina is the "War Orphan" so maybe she is tougher and doesn't get saddened as easily. Just some random stuff I thought of off the top of my head.

If I divide the chars into 7 tiers like you it'd be:

Tier 1:

Katia - Just the best imo. She can clean Franko every single time. I play aggressively, and she sucks at combat, but the herbal meds and moonshine I find while scavenging need to be put in good use.

Marin (if he's in the starting team) - The material saving is HUGE in the long run. It was him that let me have the veggies garden, the 2 rat traps, the reinforced door and the upgraded stove on day 8 in one of my runs.

Boris - Nobody cares if he's slow, that 17-slot backpack is just terrific. Plus he's actually good at combat, so that's a 2-in-1. His only weakness so far is that he complains about killing bad guys, but that's not gameplay-related.

Tier 2:

Marko - I'm not interested in the jack-of-all-trades guys, they don't have an outstanding stat. Still, his 15-slot backpack is nice.

Roman - He's just literally perfect at combat. Moreover, he has a neat guarding bonus so his tiny inventory doesn't really hurt. He gets content easily in my games too (due to the kids) and he's already resistant to mood change, so now he's always content, which works well with his skill. (and actually he used to be the most hated survivor, just so you know.)

Tier 3:

Bruno - He's not so useful at late game because I don't go crafting trade goods. He's still quite nice, though.

Irina (DLC) - I usually have the veggies garden by the end of week 2, so her skills shine for me. Still, I'd trade her for Marin instantly, as he saves components (aka water) and other stuff.

Arica - Good, but nowhere near Roman in terms of combat effectiveness. She's also useless when she's not out scavenging, meanwhile Roman can guard.

Tier 4:

Computer Specialist (custom) - They aren't as useful as starting Marin, since they only start saving stuff at midgame, and by that time materials aren't much a problem.

Marin (if he joins halfway through) - His ability just doesn't save enough stuff if he starts at midgame.

Police Officer (custom) - I never use guns as plan A so their bonus isn't much for me. Still, sometimes I need them.

Forester (custom) - Their wood+fuel bonus is negligible, but at least they're about materials.

Tier 5:

Pavle - Same reason as Marko, except he has less slots. His running speed isn't as much a big deal as the above guys' skills.

Christo (DLC) - Same as Pavle.

Pharmacist (custom) - I never make meds anyway.

Zlata - Unlike the kids, her skill doesn't boost morale to ''content'', and I never do bad deeds so I just don't need her skill at all.

Psychologist (custom) - Same as Zlata.

Photographer (custom) - Their ability does nothing as of yet. Their only saving grace is that they have 12 slots.

Insurance Agent (custom) - Basically Katia except way worse. They can't even fight properly, for God's sake.

Tier 6:

Henrik (DLC) - I don't make cigs, and he's a slow-moving 10-slotted old man. Just not good.

Emilia - Same as Zlata, except she has less slots, and her ability isn't global.

Anton - His rat-catching skill isn't too noticeable, and his stats are weak. Basically a worse Irina.

Tier 7:

Cveta - I'm sorry, but even Roman loves children. :DDD

Say whaaaaat, cigeratte are easy cash, especially if there is Military base, get Katia packed with 30 cigs and lots of moonshine and you basically win.

Anyway,my tier list here:

Best:Marko,Marin,Zlata,Katia
Overall good trait, decent back ground story, heart warming ending(The Marin one,damn.....),and just nice guys/girls in general

Second:Forester,Romen,Boris,police officer
Been playing with they for a bit, they are decent, but rather situational

Eh:Arica,Pavle,Bruno
Arica is here because I never do a steal run myself,so the sneak trait is kinda useless to me,running fast is extremely optional, and usually I'm stock with cans so Bruno is rather meh, plus he seems to be quite an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

All the rest:didn't play them,so no comments really

Note that I don't have TLO DLC.

This tier list is based on gameplay usefulness, not story or personality. I'd have placed Roman at #1 if this was an emotionally-based list.

And unfortunately you need Katia for the trading base to be effective. Without her it'd be a terrible investment.

Yeah, but you also listed ''decent background stories'' and ''heart-warming endings'' so I was prompted.

Eh,it's my fault that I didn't read the topic properly, still I'll keep my list as my ranking won't change.
Roman he wipes out the bandits and soldiers out.

Marko goes in and cleans the empty places out next day or two,

Those too guys for a fun and easy combat orientated run with loads of supplies options.

With Bruno staying at home doing the cooking and guarding with X random person.
