How do i teach childrens to do things?

You can teach them some of the tasks, like making filters/firewood, cooking, etc.

What you need to do is click on the item you want to use (with an adult) and there should be a "teach" option below "make".

For example if you click on Workshop > Filters there should be "teach" option.

The kid can only learn certain things. You can't teach them to repair guns or whatever.

In addition to what Cetoiscini said, it's worth mentioning that when you want to teach kids how to make certain items you have to make only one of that item.

For example, in order to teach a kid how to cook you need to make only one meal to show him/her how it's done.
