If your survivors got sick maybe that locked you out of it? Idk for sure though. maybe retry the run avoiding sickess may unlock you the good ending. Anyways good luck!
Inventory and resource management in the first 3 days is very important, esp with only 12inven survivors, you better bring a lockpick instead of crowbar to free up one space. Alternatively, you can pick Marin instead to help you save resource.
You can also wait for garage to appear in day 3 to save some precious resource used to build metal workshop, crowbar, shovel and hatchet. Well, only if you include garage in your custom maps tho.
Trading with Franko on winter is bad, but it's too important to skip esp in the first two weeks until you finish boarding up wall and installing security door. Make sure you bring meds from the first two days scavenging to trade.
Also Franko has random number of the resource he bring, you may restart the day until he bring a good amount of wood and component.
As for the sickness, your survivor has a better chance going thru the next day if you have above 0 celcius by the end of the day. Although RNG can still screw it, restart the day if needed atleast until you can afford to burn more fuel later
It seems like getting a happy ending in a high difficulty setting is quite the challenge
"Despite the odds, Grozdan managed to reach their uncle, who took them in as soon as the siege was lifted. Even though her uncle’s family did all they could, Kalina remained a melancholic and quiet child, always reading or daydreaming to escape the real world that had been so harsh to her."
... If i couldn't help her, what chance did her uncle's family think they had ?
Even i did many good deeds:
-helped neighbors anytime they needed
-share food, medicine
-helping man in sniper junction
-kill bandits in hotel and brothel to save hostages
-kill the soldier in supermarket to save girl
-no stealing (yeah being good man was so hard in this run)
And i managed the quality of life perfectly:
-in harsh winter, i built 2 crude heaters, but always got enough fuel to keep the temperature > 11 C
-protected the shelter perfectly even in Outbreak of Crime
-noone even got sad or very hungry, They were often content (especially the kid) and rarely got sick too (the kid didn't got sick)
-20 books, 3 beds, 1 chair and 1 armchair, all toys that you can make for kid, 1 guitar (i changed Zlata to Pavle but keep these above lineup)
-boarded up all breaches, installed improved security door too
-had enough food to open a restaurant and enough med to open a hospital too
In conclusion, i think maybe the setup is too harsh for a kid to get good ending in long run. Because actually i got a good ending with her with harsh setup like this by escaping the city in day 26. So this might prove my theory that kid is actually not an ungrateful brat, just because life is too harsh and despite our best efforts, war always find its way to hurt kids - That is also the bitter truth you see in reallife and have to accept. (Or the real problem is my masochism :D)
Btw thx for advices again and your patience too for reading such a long, annoying post. I gave up this kind of tryhard now, maybe someday someone can prove me wrong and i will be so happy to hear how do they do it
P/s:
My run setup as below:
Lineup: Cveta, Anton, Kalina, + (Pavle or Zlata)
Winter: early + severe + long
Raids: High
Ceasefire: after 40 days
Map:
Garage, Hospital, Abandoned Cottage, Decrepit Squat, Quite House, Brothel
Small Apartment Building - Family scenario
Hotel - Bandits scenario
Supermarket - Soldier scenario
St.Mary's Church - Faithful scenario
Sniper Junction - Sniper scenario
Semi-Detached House - Girls scenario
*Keep in mind that:
Although the map seems to have many places with profitable loots and ez to use some exploit tactics, only 1 stealing or innocents murder then the kid will be likely to get sad ending then the whole run can be ruined a.k.a "bla bla ... I’m not crying, it’s just… I have something in my eye…" said Kalina. So, please behave adults, we must set a good example for kids
