Is there a use in being generous to the trader?
You know, you can "overpay" Franko when you are trading items that are more valuable then what you get in return.

Is there anything useful about it?

Remember, the game never shows your 'real' capacity when trading. It's true that every time you 'overpay' you won't get anything, but you might need to add something extra 'going from okay we can trade' to 'generous' because otherwise you won't be able to carry everything. So doing this every time isn't good, but after turn 30, you do it once that's not a big deal.

Also, when trading at the supermarket be aware that if you bring a weapon, the soldier will keep his gun trained on you the entire time, even if you trade it away.
This won't happen with broken weapons, just workable guns, the hatchet etc...

That would explain why that bodyguard was so jumpy that one time I went there, to use the crowbar to open up the locks.
