I think on the 2nd day the lady from the museum will come. Talk to her about medicine, on the next few days if you can not find medicine for Ruben, she (the lady from the museum) will bring 2 (or 3) for you.
With 2 medicine, Ruben will be able to move and start the preparation to move out.
So like my first message, always keep Ruben warm and fed (max hungry status not very hungry).
Seems pretty tough to rush an upgraded work bench. My builds were first a bed then a stove and then the work bench. I'll try it on my next playthrough.
I got him well and to the museum where he developed a "terminal illness".
No. After a few days at the museum. I had upgraded the heater and kept everyone warm so I don't know why he got sick again.

Thanks for the link. When it said his condition was terminal I stopped wasting resources on him since I thought he was doomed to death.
I leave and go back in.
As long as he is severely ill or better, I can cope with that
I just put up a playthrough of days 1-8 (getting to museum on morning of day 8) and kept Ruben at 'hungry' level (ie eating every time went to very hungry) and he made it through ok (and no art burned), but previous playthroughs I got some random 'terminally ills', also a day where the meds didn't work on him (also a day where Franko didn't have the needed lockpick on him - so that's not guaranteed either).
I've yet to test it, but the amount of food provided in the first 8 days makes me suspicious that if the game gives us enough to keep him out of hungry status (which it does), then does that guarantee his survival ? Not sure.
