If you played one of the default scenarios, the war's length may vary depending on the scenario. Without spoiling it for you, you can look at the custom editor on the possible war durations though the ending day in a default scenario may not correspond exactly to what is shown in the editor.

the duration varies, it can be 47 days like my first try, it can be 25 (think that's the minimum) and if you edit survival time it could last up to 80 days. in my opinion between 30-47 days is a reasonable duration if you want to enjoy the game and learn the story of your survivors, and if you want a challenge 80 days

I wouldn't consider 80 days a challenge because if you're familiar with the game's mechanics, you should achieve self-sufficient status sometime between day 20 and day 40 and trade your way to victory after that. The challenge is greatest early on especially when you start with only 1-2 survivors and whether the starting conditions are harsh like say early winters and crime waves.

To be very honest, its very easy to survive with only two people & i did have a custom scenario with every location available, added in Cloe & Max for this, managing 3 or 4 people is actually harder.

"With every location available" makes it easy, not starting with 2 people. Try customizing 2 low backpack capacity people with high crime rate. =))

Crime rate is what makes the game really hard. Only 1 worthwhile guard in the entire roster, everyone else will be injured from most night attacks.

Should put in place a decimal system for guard rates rather then A B C D F

I had Anton, Katia and Bruno at home, and the shelter was completely boarded up. During the crime spree, if I left all three at home and had them all guard, no one would be injured, even though none of them are particularly good at guarding (I found Anton to get away unscathed as the lone guard before the crime spree). So maybe it just matters how many you have on guard and whether you can seal your shelter.

I don't think hard numbers are available on how much weightage is given for various security modifiers. Boarding up everything and having more guards help. If your guards are unarmed during the crime wave and they were somehow unscathed after a raid, I'd attribute that to lucky RNG rather than immunity to injury. The reason is sometimes, someone gets hurt because there were "not enough weapons for everyone". So weapons are also a crucial modifier.

Yeah - all of them had weapons. So that explains it.

Yes, though there's still a low risk of injury. But if you have at least 2 guards armed to the teeth and full boarding up/electric door, this risk is indeed very low.
