Oh yayy, the update broke my everything. :(
Title.

Guess I'll come back in 3-6 months, after the mod authors have a chance to adapt to the compleely-revised interface and all. (This really should have been called 4.0, not just 3.8 ...)

I agree, I can't access Earth anymore or the game crashes. I had many super skilled slug-host scientists and now they all lost their special abilities.

you can always revert to the last update, that has been a thing since forever

Roll back. Given it's a major DLC, you can roll back to the previous game version.

Weirdly all my mods are busted even though I rolled back to 3.7.4 in the Beta tab?

You were given ample warning that saves would likely not work and of course any mods you run would break.

Why does this need to be a thread for every update?

Check the busted ones and see if they updated today. If they didn't then there shouldn't be problems.
I know a couple of mods I have just rolled out updates today. But I'm running around in Nakami version (Because I play the SW: Fallen Republic mod).

Because people on the internet are dumb and think everything is centered around them.

So you have to check in with the devs every time you want to play the game just in case. Hmm, good thing I don't have to do that with most of my other 700 games on steam.

IMO the update is insanely amazing. Just disable you mods and start a new game. New updates are of course going to cause issues with existing mods.

Problem with that and using mods is that you can revert the update...but if a mod author updates their mods, BOOM broken again. And some of them are definitely going to.

Don't worry, it's not limited to Stellaris; Rimworld gets a major DLC like once a year, and every time it comes out, people immediately panic that all of their mods are no longer up to date.

You do with any of the ones that are still being updated.

I'm new to the game, I have a year 2390 game I'm heavily invested in and enjoying greatly, but this update broke everything. I can't click on anything, the refresh rate and graphics are all weird, it's completely broken and unplayable. Yes, this needs to be a thread for every update, why would they roll it out like this if it doesn't work with ongoing games?

Edit: I have NO MODS installed and it still broke everything

Edit (again): For those who don't know, go to "manage" tab in steam (the cog button across from the play button), go to properties, go to betas, and click on 3.7.4 in the drop down menu. That should roll it back to before the update.

like you say it is once by year, not 3 by year

the primitive race stuff is not 2 months old and we already get dlc on leader

I'm more talking about how people still show up wondering why their mods broke each time there's a major update, like it isn't a well known risk.
