Name: Rihi'Nar
Phenotype: Humanoid
Home Planet: Mishri
Star System: Shar
Home Environment: Tropical
Empire: Rihi'Nar Mandate
Government: Holy Tribunal
Ascension Path: Psionic
Data: A race of elf-like humanoids, the Rihi'Nari exhibit pointed ears and beautiful features which would otherwise make them attractive to other races if it were not for their psychotic megalomania. The Rihi'Nari truly believe that they are absolutely perfect in every way shape and form. Not only do they seek to conquer the galaxy, but they feel that they deserve to rule, making their subjugation of other civilizations totally justified. Such beliefs are not entirely without merit, as the Rihi'Nari live longer than most other races and they exhibit a natural talent for a wide variety of different careers and hobbies.
The Rihi'Nari expect nothing less than the total and absolute submission of all other life in the cosmos. The slightest shred of disrespect shown towards one of the Rihi'Nari by a different species is unforgiveable blasphemy that demands the execution of whoever committed such an offense. They have absolutely no regard for the lives of anyone who isn't a Rihi'Nari and would exterminate every man, woman and child of an entire civilization if they felt like they weren't being properly subservient. Contrary to popular believe, the Rihi'Nari are not gleefully excited with the act of genocide, but rather they do it with cold, scowling expressions. As if their condemned victims had just committed some sort of monumental stupidity by even thinking they could challenge their masters.
Aside from being fanatical xenophobes, the Rihi'Nari are also a spiritual people, which only serves to further compound their sense of superiority. Many believe that their species is destined to transcend the limits of our physical reality and achieve powers only attributed to those of gods. When (not if) this happens, the Rihi'Nari will finally claim their rightful position and rule unchallenged over this entire universe for all eternity.
Religion controls the government, with the most devout Rihi'Nari holding the highest positions of office. To maintain order among both their own people and their legions of slaves, they utelize a combination of inquisitorial agents and martial law. To challenge the law is to challenge the faith and to challenge the faith is to commit blasphemy.
Breeding: The Rihi'Nari have a reputation to uphold, even if it's only appreciated by their own kind. If you're going to claim to be the absolutely perfect species, then you can't just breed with anything you want and expect it to turn out okay. Rihi'Nar pairings are carefully selected in order to ensure that only the most successful bloodlines are allowed to flourish while those who fail to meet expectations are phased out of the gene pool.
Those who become leaders of society are the result of multiple generations of selective breeding programs designed to cultivate the best members of their race. Contaminating the bloodline with inferior genetics is disgraceful, while the unimaginable sin of coupling with a different species is grounds for execution following a long and brutal torture session.
To put it simply, the Rihi'Nari do not breed with other sentient life forms unless they wish to commit the most agonizing suicide possible. And they place great value on their ancestral lineages, as a famous pedigree increases their chances of being approved for breeding privileges.
Do they, by any chance, intend to prove the superiority of mer over men?
In their eyes, it's already been proven. The fact that men require a constant demonstration is aggravating.
Phenotype: Arthropoid
Home Planet: Ultra'Mound
Star System: Ultra'Picnic
Home Environment: Arid
Empire: Ulra'Ant Swarm
Government: Hive Mind
Data: Millions of years of evolutionary struggle have perfected the ultra'ants. Originally a tiny and fragile race of insects, they are now capable of reaching sizes rivaling that of your average humanoid. Ultra'Ants exhibit the proportionate strength of their ancestors, enabling them to lift 10 times their own body weight with relative ease. When in small numbers, this makes them dangerous, but in large groups, they can be nearly unstoppable.
Like the ants they evolved from, the ultra'ants communicate with each other through a vast hive mind network. They become quickly agitated when in close proximity to any life form that is not part of this connection and will most likely attack them as a perceived threat. However, their aggressiveness seems to be more tempered when interacting at long distances, allowing them to establish moderate contact with xenos races.
Despite their immense strength, ultra'ants are still sensitive to rapid climate changes and do not survive well outside of their preferred environment. Most ultra'ants remain on the planet of their birth until the day they die, but those brave enough to explore the stars have begun research into terraforming technology. Their goal, or so they hope, is to be able to transform otherwise inhospitable planets into conditions more befitting that of their homeworld, thus making it easier for the ultra'ants to migrate there.
Name: Chitarax
Phenotype: Arthropoid
Home Planet: Chimnar
Star System: Chiril
Home Environment: Arid
Empire: Chitarax Collective Hives
Government: Hive Mind
Data:
Run by King Kritarix, the Chitarax are an expanding hive, ever seeking more to explore.
This stems from King Kritarix himself....he is lonely.
Their bio reads as follows:
"I am one. I am everything. A King of puppets, an endless cycle. Breeding more drones to keep the hive strong, always the nursery cavern is full of the maternal drones, their eggs and larvae.
And yet...I yearn for more. These drones, that look like me and yet voiceless, thoughtless...they are unsatisfying.
I began cultivating the drones with rogue synapses, which usually are executed and devoured. These have limited free thought, enough for me to converse with, but...it is still not what I crave.
I want to see what it is like to speak with a creature who can think as well as me...I must expand my hive into the stars, to find someone that will talk back to me."
Despite being a hive mind, he seeks to explore space, to find Empires he can talk with. Initially many despise him and his hive for what they are, being so different from any of the other free thinking empires, but he persists in his attempts to finally have some sort of social interaction in his immortal, lonely life
Social Structure:
The social nature of the hive is only the King, and his limited amount of semi-free thinking drones, who form his officers, admirals, and scientists. But what the drones can say and do are extremely limited, since they are in effect still a part of his will and his mind.
Environment
Chimnar is a arid landscape of steep canyons, large plains of scrubby bushes, and only limited water. The Chitarax hives are a warren of caves, caverns, and tunnels within the planet, and they only appear above ground for hunting forays. Everything they need, other than the occasional fresh surface meat, is below ground. Water, food, and materials to build with are all present within the planet's depths.
