Small dev crushed by Topware, please read this and consider making your feelings known to this publisher.

I'm quite disgusted by this.
WOW that's the most terrible thing i have seen
Piña Nov 19, 2014 @ 8:54am
I was about to show my disgust, but I got a little sidetracked at the store page: "third party DRM"

You seriously don't want me buying your* game, do you?

*Assuming this game is actually yours, this time

Disgusting... I hope justice will be served.

I would tell them to IMMEDIATELY start selling the game themselves, because the contract became VOID once the publisher breached it not once but twice on their end..Now I am NOT currently a lawyer, that would be my RECCOMMENDATION to this Developer, do whatever is in your power to sell, distribute, and profit from the game YOU made while you can..If you are waiting anxiously for the legal system to work it out, YOU W ILL BE WAITING A LONG TIME! They breached it, therefore defaulting the contract, once the system catches up with this case your point will be made & justified..
**Just opinion&advice**

Alright, now that I know more about this, it breaks my heart, I fondly remember several Topware games as great experiences, I even pre-ordered this game (just to have the release date pushed back). That's a tough one, all nI can say is I wish I knew of this story before, but we do NOT know all the details I'm sure, who knows, there is sooo much gaming news out there, it is hard to keep up with all the stories, maybe in the future I will be researching developer/publisher before pressing the "BUY" button...

Wow, that is bad... happens a lot, anyone remember GRIN? they made a lot of high quality games and were screwed over, no funds paid so they had to close. Always get money into your studio monthly, if you're partnered with a publisher, never trust them and make sure you get a steady stream of development funding - don't believe promises.

I saw this happen to this dev and was one of the reasons I left Topware -

You're right; this publisher seems pretty shady.
amok Nov 20, 2014 @ 12:39pm
The publisher is shady, and this is really bad behavior. However, be aware that boycotting this game over the publisher will damage the developer Reality Pump more than it will damage Topware. What is needed is spreading information about Topware (who now apparently are also facing bankruptcy) so that no other developer sign up with them. Hindering sales will only bring Reality Pump in more trouble also.

Boycotting all Topeware games on principle is fine, but be aware that doing so also hurt the developer. I see no reason to start any actions in sympathy for on developer studio, by creating problems for another.

Quite a good point.

Pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ if true...

Topware is run by some shady people to start off with that obviously know they can wrangle the smalled dev studios by whatever means neccessary. Who knows? By the time this finishes court TopWare will be broke and they know it so they won't have to pay anyway. This "oral" agreement is some bs though. If it's NOT in writing how does any court, much less a German one, say it's acceptable in any form? Basically a miscarriage of justice and some a$$hole publishers.

♥♥♥♥ Topware. Steam should just tell them to ♥♥♥♥ off.

The German court DID NOT say it was acceptable. The German court asked Topware to provide some proof to back up their claim. The case was never heard again since. It's just the dev buying more time. Dirty tactic as it were, fatcats from around the world use it.

this dispute/drama is small fry. Its a legal dispute between companies. It all gets settled. Your overracting to not much really. Sure have yet to vetted Topware for trouble given to customers, but all i see is a publisher struggling in a continous piling up of debt Europe.

Have to actaully thank them for providing a Black Flag alternative to the ♥♥♥♥ ubisoft keeps doing.

Their not that bad, support them! otherwise if they melt away. We're left with companys like ubisoft buying up the remains and then you will REALLY have someting to cry about.
