FTP + local hosting multiplayer
Hi everyone, Not sure what your FTP model is, but since I have been playing for a while and I see that things like diamonds take 10m to mine with the advance extractor I am REALLY hoping your FTP model doesnt include "pay to speed up" or "pay to complete now" types of transactions.

People will pay for the shinies. Sell player skins, weapon skins, new advanced block styles (but still include many in the game as you have with the current game). If you use a FTP model that sells shines rather then speeding up production you can allow players to local host games which will signifigantly reduce MP lag and reduce server costs on your end. IMO thats a win:win

I actually see no problems with "pay to speed up" or "pay to complete now" types of transactions. I do not even consider them to be pay2win because what I pay for is to either speed up the process or complete the process and it is optional. For me that is a great feature to have as time is the most valuble thing there is, and not all have a lot of time to spend on playing games. So to not have it would be a bit silly imho.

There won't be any timers for "pay to speed up or " pay to complete now. When the game first came out it did have " finish now timers" for the crafting table, processors, and forges. They were removed because alot of players considered it a P2W function. Because the Devs don't want that in the game they were removed. Not only did they remove the "finish now timers" but they also readjusted the times to process anything on all the machines. There also used to be a store at the very beginning of the game when it first came out on steam, but it has been taken out for now to be revamped and the devs have told everyone there will be nothing in the store that will have any effect on the core loop of the game.

@Rossignol like you said it's the shinies that will be in there.

Can confirm -- pay to skip timers won't be a part of our FTP model. We're actually getting close to revealing our model soon. It has a unique twist we think you guys will find interesting!

Well you certainly have my interest peaked :)

Paid user content? I'd love to make some block textures/models/skins for the game if rev share would be involved.

Won't be in version 1, but it's something we've been discussing and is a possibility down the road.
@minxall1 I am well aware that they have been in the game earlier. And I am not one of the players that did think it is pw2 feature. But I am happy anyway, I love the game to death and I really look forward to see what the upcomming model will be :)

@Gilnidor Yeah i'm looking forward to the upcomming model also :)

I never had an issue with a pay to finish or speed up processing but others did. I even used it once or twice but there is no race to win in this game, speeding up production only feeds a person's impatience, not letting people win.

Timed events are not a problem if there is no pay-to-finish because the dev balances the timed event with fun and the feeling of accomplishment. When the model involves pay-to-finish timed events natually grow longer as the devs try to incentiveize people to finish-by-pay. Things that in a non-FTP game that would take minutes take hours in a pay-to-finihs game, things that would normally take hours to finish take days. ends up making the game feel like its trying to slow you down rather then paced correctly.

Isn't that making the assumption that the Devs will actually take advantage of the crafting and extracting delays to make money rather than through other cosmetic means?

Simply put, the answer to your question is No, its not an assumption, its a fact. In this case the devs have stated (in this thread even) that they are NOT using timed events for monitary transactions. I have seen {too numerous to count) many many many examples of other games that used pay-to-finish and every single one, there is not a single exceptions, has horrendous timed events that take days to finish instead of minitues or hours.
