Ships without coal in sea
when my fleet run out of coal in the sea, they are immobilized forever in the same place? There is no way to resupply these? Or is it a game bug?

No, they are limited to one region per turn.

i dont understand. So what I do for my resupply ships when they run out of coal in the sea?

Send them to port or let them sit in a Sea Region adjacent to an In-Supply Coastal Region and they will fill-up if you have the supplies.

You could also try to get a 'port access agreement ' in a country near to where they are located which will keep them refuelled as long as they are near a port where you have such an agreement. Would have to be a country you have decent relations with though. :Khappy:

Nice thought but that does not work. At least it hasn't for me or I've missed something in the translation. I have 2 vessels for example, sitting off the coast adjacent to the port of spain. They've been there for 5 turns now and will not move into port. Coal supply is 0 of 8, coal demand is 2 fuel demand is 0. Any thoughts?

Yeah but are they an ally or do you have port access agreement with them? Otherwise you wont get any help from them. I thought you had to be adjacent to a port to stay in supply? Also note sometimes its a little tricky to judge which province is adjacent to the port.

Yes they are, I own the port. What would make more sense to me would be this. Coaling ships (colliers) that were used back in the day to resupply ships at sea. They existed in history, why do they not exist in this game?

Well actually Armed Merchant raiders can fulfill this role to some degree being they carry about 30 coal each I think.

Ok question, will they then transfer fuel/coal to ships in the area they are in if they are part of the same fleet?

Fleets pool fuel so yeah if you send an Armed merchant to a fleet and merge it into the fleet it will treat it as if the coal was evenly distributed. Then if you seperate the Armed merchant into a new fleet it will only take a portion of the fuel.

Makes perfect sense, thanks for the info!

It makes sense, but is part of the logistical madness that is this game. Even down to having to merge your ships to distribute the coal, yes it makes sense in a way, but the failure to automate some of this is just another burden on the player.
