Why do you lose all your items when you die ?

Thats one thing they copied from the first game that I wish they left out. When you die you have to go back out and find all your items you lost. Its bad enough when you die they send you back to the base and you cant restart right where you died from. So basically when you die you have to trek all the way back to where you where before AND you have to trek back and find your lost items. Its very annoying.

There is this hologram on the floor, then what ?
I have never gotten my stuff back lol.

What would you prefer to happen when you die? Nothing? That's not how video games work there have to be consequences for dying otherwise there'd be no real excitement or struggle to overcome it'd be bland...

There should be a yellow box where you died that has all of your stuff

There has to be punishment for death and task to reaquire your items left where you died. Otherwise there is no point in death in game where you respawn easily.

Well, just to add to this topic:

My gravestone symbol was exactly where I died (inside a cave),
but the crate with all my items in it was in the same area,
250m away, outside on the grass - no enemies nearby.

The journal had a quest for it. So you are able to mark it on your map.
