Game is still a lot of fun if you can get it to work. MOST people seem to be able to get it to work by messing around with core affinities in task manager or setting to Win98 compatibility, though there are a few people who can't get the game to launch at all yet, which sucks. Hopefully people contact Koei and there's a patch.
The port is pretty decent - Not good, not bad.
voiceovers - thats an opinion
Mouse support would be nice, but you should EXPECT to be forced to use a controller with this type of game.
- Define bad port. I've seen some terrible ports, and DW8 doesn't come close to those
- Who cares about it being a PS3 port, it works
- As mentioned, voiceover is opinion, and an (official) Japanese pack will likely come later
- Please list these "tons" of bugs you've experienced
This port has a unusually high number of bugs ranging from being unable to save controller setting after closing the game to being unable to open the game at all.
The lack of mouse support on a platform designed for M&K is absurdly boneheaded. Even if a controller would be "better" expecting every PC gamer to own a controller is ridiculous. You don't tell console players to just buy a keyboard and mouse because it's the superior control device for FPS.
Lack of basic features available in other ports of the game(No cloud saves and no online multiplayer)
The graphics are extremely underwhelming given the range of PCs out there. This port actually has lower resolution textures than the previous incarnation DW7.
The game is locked at 1080p and 60fps. If only there were 1440p 120hz monitors out there.
These are the exact things that make for a bad port. Something simply working(which isn't even the case here for a large number of people) does not mean it's a "decent port". If a car can turn on but lacks basic modern features like power steering, can't maintain highway speeds, has poor gas mileage and breaks often you can't call that a "good car" because it works for you. Being a bad port doesn't mean that you can't enjoy the game(it's fantasticly fun on Ps3) but to say that this was in anyway an acceptable port is complete nonsense.
also ive said it before, but they were porting this to PC before DW8 went to PS4, so they used the PS3 build and bumped the graphics in certain areas rather than redoing the port with the ps4 version (which would mean we wouldnt even see this for another year), also this allows for a higher playerbase. not everyone owns a god tier pc, alot of people dont even own decent computers.
Not to mention, there is around a thousand other players in-game, and I can't imagine them all experiencing issues and still playing.
In my opinion, you are easily looking at over 100 hours of gameplay if you want to play through the story modes for each empire and do some ambition/free play with a few characters. If you decide to make a weapon and level a specific character or two, that's already going on 150 hours. To me that is quite substantial in view of the modern hack and slash games - especially when some of them cost more than this one, have a 20-hour campaign and no replayability whatsoever.
I am willing to forgive a bunch of issues if the content is priceworthy and the replayability is good. This is by no means a 10/10 game in its current state, but a 7/10 in my opinion, and definitely a 9/10 if they launch a few patches to fix the various issues the players have.
