Theres plenty of females you can be.

In Story mode it depends on the level and what side you're on if one is playable
In Free mode or Ambition mode you can choose any character you want.

As i said, it depends on the level you play and what side you are playing as.
In Story mode you can only play as who they give you the choice to play.

Either check the Gallery, the Encyclopedia, or play Free Mode and cycle through the characters and you'll find quite a few women.

Each faction has at least two.

Well... in story mode, the first stage of the Wu Dynasty allows you to play as female.

But then the second and third stages won't have female characters to play.

Story mode is like that, the game puts 1,2,3 or 4 characters on the screen and waits for you to choose who you'll play as. Sometimes they are all male, sometimes there's a female around.

And a rare few story mode levels have all females to choose from. Wu has one. I believe Jin has one.

Yuanji is by far one of my favorites, though Lu Bu's daughter is pretty moe.
