Tipps for Beginners
I never played a DW Game before, so that pure mass of stuff is overwhealming me. Did the tutorial, kind of conquered the controls, and started the story with "Shu".

Played the first scenario, and recognized that DW is indeed a bit more tactical than i thought. Did I understand right that i have many officers (allies) on the battlefield, and they are sometimes in trouble when you dont help them, so more and more enemies arrive when this bar allies / enemies goes to the enemies side. from the time to time the allies escape from the battlefield.

so the optimal run would be, i'm going for every officer on the battlefield, help him, extend my allies bar and then go finish the final boss?

what about the weapons, there is always something appearing like unlocked weapon XY, but in the menü i can choose every weapon anyway i think. i can buy weapons but i have them all, i dont really get the system.

i unlocked skills and equipped them, is there anything more to know...

So, you have tried the tutorial inside the game. I think you are understand about the new gameplay and the movement sets, for example strong attack, musou attack (musou-1, aerial musou, and musou-2), rage and rampage mode, storm rush, and switch counter. Another sets you can try jump with attack and call the horse while you were running. Ah, I remember that each of officers (Unit commander and Playable character) has sign over them head. There were three sign, blue prism sign, red triangle with exclamation mark, and double down orange arrow. All of them are depend on you weapon elements (Earth, Heaven, and Man).

Extend the alies bar? Did you mean the bar on the top right corner when you were in battle?
If yes, The bar is the morale between your allies and enemies. You can extend it, for example you have a reinforcements, do ambush attack, and etc.

There new weapon system, each weapon have elements and affinity, beside that there are special weapon with gold level and highest level (5th and 6th weapons). You can obtain them by finishing the objectives in story mode. But, the difficulty too. The easy one, you can try talk with the Blacksmith on Ambition Mode.
Have you tried another mode of the game?

I think there is guide about skills, you can look at Guide page (http://steamcommunity.com/app/278080/guides/). Some skill are recommended by community. Oh ya! This game can be played by single or two player (Splitscreen), no-online Co-op (only available on PS4 version).

New news from the game, the DLC is coming. The first round of DLC released two days ago (http://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791435520837/announcements/detail/193972202573620774). Another round of DLC will come next two weeks.

All of above are my knowledge about the game so far, sorry for misspelling. You can correct me. Thanks

Here are my tips, in no particular order:

1. It's not weapon types you unlock/find, but individual weapons of those types.

2. The morale bar determines how well your allies will be doing against the enemies. The more the bar swings in your favor, the less you have to babysit them.

3. When an ally of ours cries out for help, he is not necessarily in immediate danger. Check out the morale bar and how many enemies are around him before immediately rushing towards him.

4. Speaking of rushing, the "Call Horse" button is your friend. It's okay if you dismount for actual combat, but always having a horse nearby is useful if you need to zip across the battlefield - unless you've just picked up Winged Boots, cause those make you faster than most horses.

5. Getting a high KO count will boost your morale, but don't overdo it. Unlike in previous games, you can't cut of enemy reinforcements, so don't waste too much time.

6. The challenge mode "Mayhem" (or whatever the "kill as many stuff as possible" stage is called) is a neat way to test out an officer.

7. If you're in a hurry, focus only on enemy officers and Mobile Unit Captains. Those are the only thing AFAIK the game keeps track of when you leave a part of the map.

8. Officers can be quite block-happy. Most simple charge attacks will make them flinch, and some EX and Musou attacks are grapples that just go through their block. Other methods of dealing with blocks is going around them or wait a moment so they'll return to their normal stance.

9. If you attack an officer without moving, your character will automatically steer left or right to keep him at the center. This can be useful for setting up grapples, to make sure that you actually grapple the officer and not a random grunt.

10. Do not pursue Lu Bu, and leave his girlfriend alone.

ok thank you all, i will try to follow them.

You will collect HUNDREDS of weapons and most of them suck. Generally just go for higher star weapons with powers that don't look terrible for now. When you get great you can craft weapons with powers that put out truly obscene quantities of damage. DW is not balanced at all.

You don't need to assist allies usually. You can afford to lose a lot of them but try to follow the scripted story bits in most missions. If Zhuge Liang wants you to follow a strategy try to follow it. It almost always helps but usually isn't necessary.

You should mostly focus on killing named officers. They are the ones that make a difference. On certain levels, Unit Commanders can be officer equivalents, but Mobile Unit Commanders are always just a step above trash.

To be honest there isn't that much strategy to it :P This game is primarily hack and slash. But yes, in story mode follow the plan/strategy laid out by your allies, save crucial allies if you can/deem necessary. Obviously make sure none of the conditions for failure are met. But yeah, usually just doing what your allies tell you to do will get you through things. In some harder stages you might have to rush to save people an things, but other than that its mainly about the action.
The only really challenging parts are the alternate win conditions. Those you might need to look up a guide for.

And the higher difficulties.

Oh, and I'm clad I could help XD
Power_Bert Aug 10, 2014 @ 5:05am
One important thing to note i IMHO is that the game gets a lot more interesting on the higher difficulty levels. So don't be afraid to level your favorite character in free mode and try hard mode. Enemy soldiers suddenly can pose a real threat to you and fulfilling the strategic objectives is much more important there because you have to rely on your fellow generals more to win the battles. The series "normal difficulty" became more and more easy as the series progressed. In the old games you had to basically level up your char in free mode before fighting the next story mode level.

The tutorial seems really helpful....

Press 'key with picture of text scroll' , press 'key with picture of running person' and so on. Great. Very useful.

I bought this because I used to like it years ago on my XBox. Hopefully looking at settings on this PC version will have a keyboard define that I can work out key presses from. Failing that, I'm sure everyone's friend google will help.

The key-binding options screen repeats the icons and has the bound keys next to it.
