If you are a bit bored of the many cat-based HOG out there then you'll appreciate the formula offered by 100 Hidden Kooky. Here, we look for pretty much everything that is out of the ordinary. A guy skiing on sand, animals that got lost and ended up on the beach, a disembodied hand (might be the one from The Addams Family), a witch exercising but with two cauldrons etc. I was fine with the normal black-and-white colour scheme but if you want you can easily have it changed. And as a "side quest" you can look for 100 sunscreen bottles, too.

I really liked Kooky's atmosphere and while we only have one level it's big enough for us to have fun at least for an hour or so. Also, this HOG has an interesting approach when it comes to the hint system: normally, only one hint is available after which we have to play some minigames to acquire more. We either look for matching image pairs or try to stop a clock between 97 and 100. Our reward will be one extra hint, therefore, while this is also great you are encouraged to try to find as many hidden objects as possible as playing puzzles can be a time waster.

Fun and enjoyably game, loved the sense of humor the Developer have!

This is a 2D 100 hidden object style game, but instead of hunting for 1 object, you're instead looking for "kooky" or "quirky" things that are strange or out of place. The scene is expansive, with a good level of zoom, and has an amazing level of detail and personality, making it a treat to explore. In addition to the main goal, there is an extra goal of finding 100 sunscreen bottles, for some added challenge. If you get stuck there is a hint system, which can be recharged by playing two different minigames. On top of this, there are 100 achievements to earn, all of which are unique, showing the care put into this title.
Overall, this is a great example of an interesting and innovative example of a game in this particular niche, so for me it's an S-tier in this category.

it took me half an hour to finish. it's a single big map, not like the last game which was several maps but still entertaining and fun.

A game about 100 kooky people.

100 Hidden Kooky - Sand & Sun is a hidden object game developed and published by Roshan Nowshad. Since there is no story here, I'll just jump into the gameplay. As the game's title implies, the objective is to find 100 hidden objects that exhibit kooky behavior. In other words, you have to find characters who are acting silly and such. Also, you have to find 100 sunscreen bottles. There is a hint feature, and even if you run out of hints, a couple of mini-games are available to recharge those hints. One is a matching pair, while the other is a stopwatch one where you have to stop the timer within a certain range. Of course, there are lots of Steam achievements although they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game".

Now that I've gone over the gameplay, I'll move onto my thoughts. Slowly, I've been getting back into hidden object games (but I have to admit that it's still a work in progress XD), so I thought I'd give 100 Hidden Kooky - Sand & Sun a try. With that said, I'll give my thoughts on the gameplay. I enjoy playing a short hidden object game, so 100 Hidden Kooky - Sand & Sun fits the bill. Regarding the gameplay, finding the objects was pretty doable. Looking for the sunscreen bottles wasn't a problem for me, despite that they are fairly small objects, so they aren't the easiest to find. As for the silly objects, they aren't identical or necessarily similar, like in other hidden object games. Thus, it may not be obvious if an object that appears to be silly is supposed to be clicked. However, I felt that finding these objects wasn't too much of a problem. For example, when I noticed a fisherman fishing with a magnet, then it was obvious that it was out of place. Nevertheless, there is a great Steam user guide if you get stuck on finding those few elusive objects. If I have to voice an issue, I'd say that there's no option to change the game screen to windowed mode. I tend to prefer to play games in windowed mode if possible, so I was only able to do so by pressing Alt and Enter on my keyboard. Assuming there will be future games, it would be great to have a windowed versus full-screen mode option. However, as I mentioned, I was able to find all of the objects and thus, earn all of the achievements.

(I want to briefly note that since I didn't need to use the hint system, it goes without saying that I didn't play the mini-games, so I can't comment on them. However, I mentioned them earlier in my review, so that it's made known that they're present.)

Regarding the art, I enjoyed viewing the black and white style that is reminiscent of old comics back in the day. However, you can choose a couple of different color modes if you don't find the default one to your liking or if you feel like changing the color will make finding the objects easier. The background and objects are well drawn and defined, making it doable to find the objects. As for the music, only one track is present, but considering that there's only one scene, this was fine. The track that is present sounds very relaxed and laid-back, perfect for spending the day at the beach. XD

Overall, would I recommend 100 Hidden Kooky - Sand & Sun? If you enjoy short hidden object games and don't mind the lack of story, then this is worth checking out. Despite the short gameplay time (for me, it took around 30 minutes to 100% complete the game), I liked finding all those silly objects. For the asking price, it is reasonably priced, so I think it's worth getting. Of course, you can wait for a sale.

A standard hidden object game where you search for unusual stuff.

Unlike most comparable games in which you must find a specific animal, object, or something else, this game takes a different approach. What you're looking for are weird objects or situations that don't belong there.

This can be a bit tricky because you’re not always sure. A snake on top of the lighthouse, for example, is apparent, but a surfer wearing a Santa hat is something you've undoubtedly seen in real life. Fortunately, the game is a lighthearted diversion that doesn't punish wrong clicks.

The scene has one hundred situations, and each rewards you with an achievement. There are also one hundred sunscreen bottles, but those are just a little bonus that aren’t required.

You can also replenish your hint by playing two minigames; a memory game and a game where you stop a watch to match the requirement. The system doesn’t allow you to make the game a walk in the park because you need to wait a few minutes before the minigame becomes available again.

Cute little hidden objects game with actually 200 hidden items, as you also have 100 sun lotions. Quite simple but that's okay, doesn't have to be more than this to be enjoyable. Short but cheap.
