Invite Only Games

Are invite only games possible? I know you can create private games where only your friends can join but if I want to play a game with just say my wife, is it possible to lock out others from your friends list from joining? As it stands in the private games friends can invite themselves to join. I can't seem to find anything on this topic.

What exactly are you wanting? For it to be you and your wife and then the rest pubs?Then just block your friends you dont want to join for the time being. The two of you and all AI? Do a custom match.

I want just my wife and some AI. I do a custom match but friends can still self invite themselves to the party. Happened twice last night.

yeah its kinda annoying that everyone can join, sometimes you might just want to farm achies or derp around with 2 or 3 other friends, then there might be someone who just joins you from your friendlist without getting invited.

Exactly, I don't want to block my friends just for when I play with my wife. I was hoping there was some way you could form an invite only party like in Borderlands.

I agree it should be an option but you could try getting in a game with her then setting your state to offline. Probably the simplest solution other than maybe telling them ahead of time to leave you alone for a bit if there arent too many of them. I had similar issues when trying to teach an old gf the ropes of L4D2. Id setup a local server so I could spawn infected at will and kill off bots for added diffculty. With the bots kicked if one of my friends joined it would crash the game. They were pretty understanding when I told them ahead of time.
