I think someone from TRS addressed this in a post with something like "We are trying to find a workaround"
There's literally no reason to deter private matches from giving exp. Whether you play against AI or your friends you should be rewarded. If someone "boosts" for all unlocks it's irrelevant as they will be matched to players of their own attained level.
LAN support in games these days is not expected as it prolongs the life of the game for consumers and the people selling the game see no financial gain from it. When the game is dead they will have something new lined up for you to play and think if they give you LAN support for an old game you won't buy the new one. Funny thing is everyone wants the latest things and so that argument if made is invalid.
