Should Kids Play GTA V?

Games have age ratings for a reason. Gracious violence, Swears and many more are the reason these exist, but many children ignore them anyway. Now i'm 13 years old and have played very few of such games. My favorite of these is Batman Arkham City, but not because its violent, but for its fantastic story and excellent gameplay. But i've seen kids about 7 staring their beady eyes at the manual for GTA V, and saying "I remember that bit in the sewers". Kids are also the reason many peoples experience in Online is ruined, because these kids are blowing players up and what not. Now this drops the question: Should Kids be allowed to play GTA and other adult games?

Now I will admit I want to play this, but only for Online. I also just want to freely explore the world of Los Santos and let other players have fun as well. I don't really want to pick up prostitutes and all that, I just want an amazing world to explore and do challenges in. I don't want it to be "cool" like other kids play it for so they can be like "EYE BLEW UP A PLAYERZ LOL M8". I started playing some more mature games at 11-12 but someone I knew played a GTA game when they were just 3. Now playing at that age (especially with some content) has that kid brainwashed, so much so that when COD Ghosts (or whatever) was released, they got the game at the midnight release, completed single player and got to level 50 online.On a school night. Now he is probably lying but if thats true, then there's one person to blame for the children playing those games: The Parents.

This isn't the first time Parents have been responible for contriversial actions. One little action by them almost destroyed the Batman franchise (Two Words: Joel. Schumacer) and now they're letting their kids play all these games, even though they might not be ready for such content.

So overall, should parents let their kids play GTA V? It depends on the maturity of the child. Now I would say no to the single player campain as there is a LOT of dodgy stuff in there, but as long as the kid isn't just another troll, then i would say online is ok. But thats opinion.

The amount of squeaky-ass voices over voip in-game should answer your question. If R rated games were enforced, Rockstar would have to cut its profits by 75 percent. 95, if it was on consoles...

Seriously they should add an option to verify a player. Simply tag the kid, after 5 tag a moderator join the kid and judge if he's not 10 and don't act as a minge bag. I don't know if there is a "mute" option for a player but it should only be used for a person that mic spam like playing music, singing non stop, swear until the dead are rolling over in their grave or if the mic do noise or if there is noise in the background.

GTA should also have a sort off "server selection" were you can join a server without friendly fire, without cops, etc. It was in GTA IV and was really fun even if the police was a piece of cake to loose. Gta should be better with these server but restrict some prvilege such as rob store, acces activity with blue ring across the map so soem player can really feel the "free mode" and not die from: "YOU SO F*CKING DUMB! I REKT YOUR MOM LAST NIGHT AND SH'S FAT AND UGLY AND SHE LOVE MY BICK D*CK" -8 years old squeaker".

Or: "WHY YOU KILLING ME?!?!?! IM NICE AND I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND!" -6 years old cheeky kunt that kill you with a non legit aquired Hydra afte rless than 3 hours of playing and less than level 5 and egt in passive mode until you mind other thign than him so he quit passive and shoot you down".

How many time have we heard a kid growlign of rage, boiling, moaning or cry because he cant kill you? How many have we got killed by a kid wich bought a tank after 3 hours of playing? Kids don't deserve to be on PC seriously... At least, leave Minecraft to them. They already ruined good game like Gmod, Team fortress 2 and Counter Strike. Dont let them hurt anothe rcommunity that wait 2 years after a game launch before getting what they paid for, Heists....

Seriously Rockstar? Selling a game based on heist wich never give any mone and wait another 2 years before put out good heist for multiplayer?

Anyway, kids should not play GTA V.

Kids can play this game. Let's be real most of us older users here on steam staring playing games like this at a young age (around 12 for me). That being said the choice needs to be up to the parents; if the parents thing the kid is mature enough then let him play. I just don't like how the media/fox news tries to blame violence on video games when really there is all kind of m rated content on the internet and if your letting a 10 year old child play a 17+ rated game, how is that the games fault?

kids should not be allowed to have interactions online, better off letting them play the singleplayer campaign, people + anonymity are worse than anything the game throws out.

You are using steam for 2 years.... and you consider a "older user"? Seriously dude? So i fI listen to what you said, you are like 14? it,s not clear when you say the age you start just after you say you're a "older user" and your steam profil say you on steam for 2 years now.

Okay, I'm just going to say that you shouldn't touch games that are above your age range unless you are given permission by a parent.. If your parent says GTAV is alright for you however (given your age), then they have failed as parents.

If you wish to play GTA V, do it. Just be aware it has Adult themes.

I was killing Police Officers and Hookers in Vice City at the age of 6. I turned out fine (Well, I haven't killed anyone yet).

Also, Age Ratings are advisory, not manditory. (It is not illegal to play a Age Rated game if you are to young. But it is illegal to sell an Age Rated game to someone who is to young.)

I played all GTA games since first one when I was only 9 years old. Sure the graphics were not as realistic but we had imagination, however we knew the difference between a video game and real life.

You can't complain about kids playing games and then be a kid yourself. Obviously he wants the little kids to quit mic spamming but he is a kid so he is still part of the problem. I just think kids should not be permitted to play Mature rated games.

Since when does just being a kid invalidate your opinion? Valid opinions are valid opinions. You're seriously going to tell me there aren't mature kids out there? Try telling that to Malala Yousafzai. While I don't see her playing GTA any time soon my point is that it's kinda ageist to claim that no kid under the age of 18 is mature enough to handle playing this kind of game. Maybe quit making unfair generalizations?

Ignoring the society norm, it all depends on the individual, when i grew up my parents would moderate themselves what i would be okay with, and im a better person for it, it allowed me to mature and become alot more brave a person.

My nonsense aside, if you are mature enough and trusted by your parents enough to deal with the sexual side of the game, and if you are not weirded out by the physics which can be distressing when you for example, unload on a security guards face over and over and over.

And of course you have a strong sense of right and wrong, and your parents trust you not to walk out the front door and steel a car from somebody. you're all good.

Its the same principle as swear words, they have true meaning, so does age certificates its to protect the child, to stop the subject from bieng incorrectly influenced like alot of our kids are today, to stop them from bieng so grossed out that they have nightmares, or even scare ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by horror games.

Everything you encounter in gtav you encounter on the internet, the way i see it, if you trust your kid on the internet without any parental guidence, then you should be able to trust them in the online gaming world, mature included.

The very fact you've made this post says to me that you are all good to play. unless you might get distressed at the level of how far you can go on a murderous rampage, the extremes you take during bank robberies. But that im pretty sure you'll know if you can handle or not by now :)

Society is broken at this point so its best to think for yourself, and in this case, the trust between the kids and parents, hope this helps put things into perspective for you and have fun.

Probably alot of people with bad expereances with the horde of annoyances that run around bratting up the place, screaming on mics, blaming people for silly things and so on and so forth lol.
