Memory leak fix?
I can still only play up to an hour until my memory starts leaking and causing fps drops, then freezing up.

I PLAYED 4-5 HOURS Yesterday strat no mem leak , no slowdowns , stuttering , ran great .
are you sure you're not just getting heat related issues ?

are you running the game well above the suggested recommendations in settings ?

You obviously do not understand that PC gaming does not equal everyone's computers handle the game the exact same way. There are so many different hardware manufacturers that it's very hard for a game to come out of the box on it's first weeks and work well for everything.

Some users legitimately are suffering from Memory Leaking. Even some Tech Websites did testing and found that GTA V does have memory leaking issues.

Just because you do not have memory leaking issues doesn't mean other users do not have memory leaking issues.

My PC is well above the recommended hardware for GTA V and I can play with almost every setting maxed out at 1080p with 50-60fps steady.

I suffer memory leaking as well however so I have limited playing sessions because of it. Single player I can play like about an hour at a time. Multiplayer often a few hours at a time.
what tech websites are posting about mem leaks ?
i think the majority of the issues with the game are as they always are for most games ,, user related .
i understand pc gaming , and i know hardware , i'm not trying to run the game on a laptop with unsupported hardware as many here are .
it's easy to blame a memory leak for poor performance . it takes the individual's responsibility out of the picture .

Bit strange because my bro has 8gb ram but never gets memory leaks even after hours of play . This makes me think it's probably caused by something in your os configuration . Maybe try increasing your virtual memory ( page file) ?
Keyru 19/abr./2015 às 9:23
@Hugsie : I noted an increase of the delay for the problem appearing with more page file, but maybe it's a placebo.

For this issue being an over heating issue and some kind of thermal throttle, that was my first guess, and I already tested all the way, like a lot of others. It really doesn't seems to be the problem, as my CPU is in totaly normal temperatures while playing, and with all thermal trottle disabled via BIOS. I also bought and puted thermal paste, and cleaned my computer as well as even accelerating the CPU fan to test. No effect at all.

I repeat once again : It is not a crashing issue, nor a FPS drop. It is stuttering. Hicups. Call it as you want, but I really, really don't think it comes from the rig.

Two ways to fix this apparently : Hope and pray for a patch, or increase your RAM/Page file to delay the apparition of the problem.
Pagefile won't fix this issue. Most people have thier virtual memory set to automatic and will vary in size depending on usage. The issue is memory leaks, and that means the OS looses track of how much system RAM is be allocated to the game, or any other app. If it cant keep track of this virtual memory won't help since it won't know what needs to be thrown into that. and the game likely crashes because game elements are hitting the pagefile rather than something else less important.

honestly it sound more like a over heating issue if the game crashes after X amount of time passes. Redo all your heatsinks and thermal paste if you're on a rig over 2 years old.
my cpu is running at 50c at max load, i have a water cooler.

Fresh install of windows 7 and no memory leaks what so ever. Solid fps, and no black lines in online. So yes it is software related. Fix your systems folks.

That's mighty interesting ! Where you experiencing stuttering, or just FPS drop ? I have Windows 8 for myself, wonder if re-installing's gonna work...

So gta 5 doesn't want to work correctly because something in my OS? kinda weird, all my other games work fine.

i bet it's a bad page file size combined with people expecting too much from their "gaming" computers ,

this game definitely has a memory leak. i can play for 4-5 hours but sooner or later my game just freezes. i also monitored everything and the game is getting bigger and bigger in the ram without stopping. definitely a memory leak.

I played battlefield hardline with almost all maxed out and it still played better than gta. I don't think it's my specs, as i've said before

You're allowed to doubt and criticize or opinions, mate. But try not to be condescendant. A lot of people experiencing this issue probably have better rigs than yours. There's always better than yourself.

By the way guys, if you're having this issue, remember to check and upvote this subject on Rockstar support for them to notice it : https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/communities/public/questions/203473047-GTA-V-PC-Stutter-Issue?page=5

Thanks in advance.

could be a 3rd party program , improper config , bad driver , compatible driver , small page file , no page file , the list is long .
there are more than one game engine , they all act and require different things ,

the os is only as stable as the install and how it's maintained . crashes , frequent freezes , incorrectly installed / uninstalled hardware and software all can contribute to the instability of a os .
turning on and off a computer correctly affects how it will perform and how stable / reliable it is .
having a too full drive degrades performance . a bad power supply , the list is endless .
i think the problem your speaking of here is user related , a poor computer setup , and a misconfigured game

this fixed the crashing issues for me

https://mega.co.nz/#!Q5xUhQ4A!-CBoyUqa7mjQ5Dn_ErUy5a6dmEReXn6JB0NIzldb65c

Download and extract, paste and overwrite those two files into Documents/Rockstar Games/Gta V/profiles. Just in case make a backup of your own.
Booted the game, didn't change any settings, went straight for the mission. WORKED FOR ME, game didn't crash when switching to Michael!
