With businesses, you can own them all, but only one type of each, so no 2 CEO Offices, only one, but you can have a Nightclub, a Bunker, a Hangar (also just one), a Facility, an Arcade, an Autoshop, a Celebrity Solution Agency (just Agency for short), a Motor Club business with its associated subbusinesses and be the co-owner of the Arena Workshop.
You can also buy some specialised vehicles, that can serve as a base of operations, like the Kosatka submarine and the Galaxy Superyacht, but again only one piece of each. They don't count towards the apartment limit. Also there's a 50 car parking garage, not sure if that counts towards apartments though, the smaller standalone garages do, so consider, if you want a standalone garage, or an apartment including a garage. Garages are cheaper and you can set your spawn point there, so they have a reason for existence. But once you have a business, you can set your spawn there as well and a standalone garage will become obsolete, some businesses also have garage space for your cars.
For example, I got:
- Del Perro apartment.
- Tinsel Tower apartment.
- Eclipse tower apartment.
- "Middle of the city tower apartment" (lol, the building opposite of the construction site?).
- A Stilt house up north (close to where Franklin lives).
- La Mesa garage unit.
- Murrieta heights medium apartment.
- Sandy Shores small apartment.
- Grapeseed small apartment.
- Paleto Bay small apartment.
Basically I live all over the State ;)Yeah, I realize that was just a typo, couldn't resist it.. lol
Currently only own 5 apartments/houses.
But looks as if any stand alone garage or apartment is interchangeable, so I'd say 10.
50 slot garage not included in that.
As someone that's had the game since launch, don't buy 10 garages or apartments.
Stick with the free apartment (if you have the criminal starter pack?)
only way to even buy the game now is with that pack,
so I'd guess you have it) as well as the office it gives you for free.
Buy one of the garage expansions for the free office you got, it holds 20 and there's 3 garage expansions available for it, so up to 60 garage slots with that office alone.
Should hold you over more than long enough to buy other businesses that also have garage space available.
Games all about making money or going broke.
If you buy stuff that can't make money you'll go broke.
Buying things that make money, may take years, but you'll make ton's of money!
Buy anything/everything you want at that point.
Choice is yours to make though.
I fully admit, if I started now rather than near launch with what I know now.
I'd do things much differently! But never did go broke in the game, many did though!
Are you sure? Can you post some screenshot? please?, I need to plan about how many garage I can have and decide what car I need to own.

This is why you hear different maximums.. different players have different properties. You're allowed 10, and both garages and apartments are considered properties.. so if you have 9 garages, you're only going to be able to have one apartment.. inversely, if you have 8 apartments, you're only able to acquire an additional 2 garages..
Next gen stuff we'll only see for the latest gen consoles..
You can have 10 apartments and/or garages (the stand alone ones). So basically all the 'prev gen' properties.
This is in addition to all the 'new' properties that were added later such as the CEO office, bunker, nightclub, etc. You can buy all of those, but can own only one of each (can't own multiple bunkers or such for example).
Also in addition to the latest 3 floor garage.
I happen to know because I got every property you can get in LS, all fully upgraded. Which includes those 10 properties.
(edit)
More I think. 10*10= 100 slots from the 'old' stuff. My CEO office has 3 parking floors with room for 20 cars each. That's another 60.
The Vinewood garage... 3 floors with 10 cars each. Another 30. Nightclub: 3 more floors which can contain 10 cars each. Another 30, so 60 more in total.
Arcade can hold another 10 cars.
The facility can hold cars as well, dunno from mind how much, I believe 8 in total.
Agency building, another big garage. I believe this is another 20 cars in total.
On mobile right now and it gets tricky to type, but as you can see you can store WAY more.
10x Properties (up to 100 slots total)
1x Agency garage (20 slots)
1x Arcade garage (10 slots)
3x Arena garage (27 slots total; +3 Cerberus slots)
1x Autoshop garage (10 slots)
1x Eclipse Blvd garage (50 slots)
1x Facility (6 slots + 4 reserved slots; Khanjali, RCV, Chernobog & Thruster)
1x MC Clubhouse (10 bike slots)
3x Nightclub garage + 1 top floor slot (31 slots)
3x Office garages (60 slots total)
1x Penthouse garage (10 slots)
1 slot for the mk2 in the Terrobyte
2 slots for submersible vehicles in Kosatka moon pool.
Didn't you forget 1 slot inside the MOC, unless you replace that mobile garage with the weaponised vehicle workshop module? MOC is, where I keep my Deluxo stored at all times for easy access through the interaction menu (don't have to call the mechanic for it).
