Just take it, unless you're one of the people that have all of the possible garage slots filled with various cars and want Rockstar to add even more.
Otherwise, this is such a non-issue.

I don't think he calls if you are in an invite only session.
At least it has never happened to me, after I've completed his quest.

I think you either have to do a certain amount of missions for the nightclub popularity, or let it get to 0 and not touch it for some time, I'm not sure. I haven't heard Dave's voice for quite a while.
