I feel like that's not the best move any actor can make, but he probably feels he needs to break away from R* if he wants to pursue more of a career in film.. so Godspeed to him and his career, I hope it works out. Having said that, he's only known for a few roles outside of Trevor, and I think GTA was his biggest break he's had in terms of exposure. So I'm not sure throwing that to the wind was well thought through. But it's not always about success and money, especially if you want to be happy with yourself and the choices you've made.
Anywho, back on topic.. Trevor is in the Series A funding heist, but that's about it. They brought Franklin into Online back in Dec 2021, before Ogg had his major fallout. By the time we got to the DLC in Dec 2022, we ended up getting the new Drug wars content with Dax & the Fooligans. I like to think R* was planning to bring Trevor back with these missions but had to improvise, especially since they ended up using Trevor missions revised for the new missions.
So maybe it's possible they wanted to bring Ned Luke back for Michael in December of 2023, but gave up on everything once Steven Ogg backed out.. which is sad, why should Ned Luke and fans be deprived of more Michael just because Ogg wants to back out? In any case, Ned Luke's never been clear on whether Michael will or will not return to GTA, or which GTA title he may or may not return to.. maybe Michael will come back, or maybe Ned Luke knows how to embrace his character like the Yin to Steven Ogg's Yang..
