Setting to join invite only lobby be default?

I tend to prefer just doing my own thing without the chaos of public lobbies, the game can be very relaxing on your own or when you're in private with friends.

The game also takes ages to load, so having to load into a public lobby, open the menu, find a new session and host an invite only, manually, every time is a bit annoying. Especially since my laptop overheats regularly and boots me out, making me have to re-join and re-host every time is a pain.

Is there a setting I'm missing that lets you set a preference to automatically use private lobbies when launching into online?

Never seen, or heard of such a setting to make it permanent.

Probably this wont help, but you can make the game load directly into story more and from there choose to go online to a private lobby or friend only session.

Pretty much this. Is the fastest mode to go straight up into story mode and then into invite only.
Also loading directly into story mode make the game loads faster.

No. You have to join invite only sessions from story mode. There are no settings for it.

Like said above, always start story mode 1st, then go invite only and don't play with wifi...
