how do you get custom taxis

did like 17 fares. got an achievement after i did 10, but rockstar's newswire page showed custom taxis yet i seemingly have no way to get them

how do i get custom taxis

There is no custom taxi, you can only unlock a livery for a future drip feed car to make it look like a taxi. I think after 50 fares and 10 stuntjumps or something.

You get to buy a taxi at the trade price for doing 10 fares. That's pretty much it.

There is no customization of a taxi nor a custom taxi. What you will get when you buy a taxi though, is a taxi that is upgraded with turbo, armor, transmission, engine stuff, and a different paint job.

Otherwise, you'll only be able to use the regular taxi via going to downtown cab co.

Where the taxi spawn when you call it from pegasus will determine which taxi you get. The regular one spawns in a bus station and the upgraded one spawns in the acting studio.

Actually... there is the "Red taxi" but that's tied into the Arena wargames. If you rank up there you can eventually get a taxi car, and it seems that car can also be used for the taxi work missions.

But that's about it.

yep its actually better then the normal taxi
it has turbo acceleration and boosted armor so lasts longer so you can grind 100 taxi runs without exploding

I've found that you can get a red custom taxi via calling Pegasus while in your apartment. I'm not sure how well it works, but I've been able to call a custom taxi multiple times for a payment of $200. You may also need to be near the movie studio when you call Pegasus, not sure. I haven't tried calling outside of the apartment, and I use the Weezel apartment, which is near the movie studio.

When I'm in the world map, I just end up getting the normal taxi for $20.

You have to have purchased the taxi in War Stock to be able to call Pegasus for it. Just putting it out there, just in case.
