No that is called diversity. The word "forced" is there for a very specific reason and you are ignoring it when you play that game.
Very cute and woke comment but it seems perfectly normal that a man would not want to play as a woman in his video game. Nothing against women . lol I'm a guy and I don't wanna play my game as a woman is that so wild really ?
Way I see it the woke self owned calling themselves woke and I'm just rolling with it as it has become their preferred pronoun.
See, I don't know what's worse... stuff going woke or the tirade brigade who's trying to "make" others do the right thing. IMO both sides are being utterly stupid. We all know the "go woke, get broke" spiel and I've seen this happening way too many times to know that it's true.
Not to mention that I've seen good things get destroyed by a bunch of woke hippies who couldn't think about anything else but their own ideals. Dr. Who and Star Wars anyone? Ugh, what a crap show that was. Strange indeed that viewer ratings plummeted for Dr. Who.... not!
And we all know the kind of "freedom" those people preach. Reminds me of reading about a feminist restaurant in Australia: "women only". And then a girl who just got engaged figured she's bring her bf along, not realizing the kind of people she was actually dealing with. At first he got denied, which pissed her off and she started a whole tirade / campaign against the restaurant for discriminating against her bf and for causing her mental harm and stress. Then the rule "suddenly" changed: now a partner was allowed but it was already too late. The restaurant didn't last much longer after that.
My problem though is that some people are being just as bad by crying woke every time some change is made which they don't like. Even if there's a good explanation for it.
lol.... I'd say it's much more likely that they are pandering to their players. Because a huge amount of players play online using.... a female character. And we all know that online has the highest priority for R*.
I myself do just that, heck I'm even part of a crew which is fully dedicated to female avatars only, but it doesn't matter what kind of player you are. Men, women, alien... if you play with a female avatar you're welcome. Our crew was founded around 2013 and we're almost 10 years old. Gee, I wonder how that happened? ;)
Fact of the matter is that there are millions of fem avatars out there, many people prefer it.
So quite frankly I'm not surprised about this decision at all.
Now, considering the last update and R* general level designs... who knows.
But so far there's 0 evidence about them going woke. It takes more than just adapting a main female protagonist. I mean what about, say, the Tomb Raider franchise? Or Resident Evil? Heck, even in Minecraft they sometimes prioritize "Alex" over "Steve" but that never went into ridiculous woke moves.
Especially if you keep in mind that female avatars are mighty popular online.
