The Problem With GTA Online
I recently decided to give GTA Online another try after I realized that we're getting closer still to a PC release for Grand Theft Auto V. I thought it would be nice to go back, play some deathmatches and enjoy some senseless crime and the like. However, it seems that with each update Rockstar puts forth, the online portion of the game just gets worse and worse, let alone their issues with stability.

At launch, Grand Theft Auto Online had major problems. This was even two weeks after the release of the full game too. Online servers failed frequently and made it impossible to play, but considering everything I was willing to wait it out. Nearly a month after that, it was fun to play. Games were usually full despite the long wait times, maps were balanced and you could stay connected longer than ten minutes.

Fast-forward to the custom map designer being released to the public and suddenly we find oruselves with some serious glaring issues. Rockstar's services are still unreliable with messages reporting the online services are completely unavailable. Free-roam maps rarely have more than six people, matchmade games rarely find more than three people which stops most higher end jobs from starting, and matchmaking itself takes a long time in the first place.

I find myself utterly let down by them. They promised a wonderful online experience, and while it was for a time, they just killed it. The maps I did get to play via an attempt to desperately get in a shoot-out involved community made maps intended to trap players and make for a pretty boring fish-in-a-barrel experience. There's no way to report these maps in the first place and with the time investment needed to actually get in to these matches in the first place, I'm just not willing to waste any more of my time with it.

Character progression, ownership, things like that were all a great idea and I loved them at first. Technical issues, a piss-poor and uncreative community that made maps that somehow got into a quickmatch queue, and a matchmaking system that never seems to actually find players seems to have killed this online portion and put it on community life support.

Remember how I said GTA Online being a seperate entity was a bad thing? It still is. I wonder if the "Next Gen" release will fail in the same way, and if it does, would Rockstar close the servers? Certainly won't generate enough revenue to warrant keeping it online in that case.

What d'ya play? PS3? I always get into 16 players free-roam on X360, lot of people play it. Also you can just don't play non-R* or non-verified jobs and stop complain about ♥♥♥♥♥♥ jobs others create. Just don't play em, nobody forces you.
P.S. It's awesome and gonna become even more awesome in a few months. ^^

Are you kidding me? Quickjob queues force you into whatever is available, which seems to be these stupid maps. If you decide to try and find a job that uses Rockstar made (or approved) maps, you're not likely to fill any slots.

GTA Online is terrible and Rockstar's decisions has only made it worse over time.

Then don't do lazy-ass quickjobs and join/host only missions you like. pff...
Add friends to play mission with, etc.
I wouldn't join some random inviting me to any mission, because most of times these randoms ruin the missions pretty fast.
I quit using "quickjob" after one day in GTA Online. And i feel like it's awesome game.

Seems like you aren't actually reading. Trying to find it through playlists doesn't work either, as matchmaking throws you into lobbies with not enough other people, and you don't get enough other people outside of an hour wiat. That's too long. I don't usually have 20 minutes to spend on setup for a job (more specifically deathmatch based ones).

Pretty much agree with most of this.

I also didn't like how they kept pushing their shark cards.

You aren't actually reading too, hehe. I said add people as friends and ask these friends to play missions you want. I mean it's much more chance they would play it, because when you idle in lobby trying to invite strangers it doesn't work because most of players affraid of randoms inviting them to mission, because these randoms like to fail missions.
Sorry for my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ english, i'm a little not focused right now.

Keep in mind, I'm looking for just random deathmatches on decent maps. I'm not looking for Missions. I stick to DM, TDM, and similar things. There's just not enough players and the custom maps are turning people off.

Add people as friends? Add who? I can't get to see more than one or two people each session and even then I don't care to add random people to my friends list who aren't.. y'know, my friends.

The matchmaking system was put in place ot make it easy to find games. It fails at that and damages the experience wholesale.
