Rockstar has poor support for GTA on PC for Steam and Unlinking your account is a hassle.
The experience I got from playing GTA Online and some of the messages from support when trying to simply unlink my steam account.

I know this the point is I want my PC account linked to the right account so it is tracked properly on the right Social Club Account instead of needing to make a new account on PC. I do not want it linked to this account and It should be as easy as unlinking my social club from this account and linking it to the account i want it linked too. It's not that hard of a request why I'm getting the run around and subjective opinion when you could simply fix it by adding an option on Social Club to Unlink your steam account the same way you can unlink your Xbox account is making me regret buying this game on 4 different platforms. I'm not the one that choose to make it difficult for the players to access GTA Online from different platforms you guys did by releasing it on 7 different platforms and making us buy it more than once. I supported the game since day one I even bought the game on 360 as pre-ordered. If i knew it was going to be pointless and re-released again later on the Xbox One I wouldn't have bought it on the 360.

I just want the account I use to be linked to the right one. I do not use this S****** account to play on PC I use J****** as my tag to play on PC. This account is only for the Series S and Xbox One. It was never supposed to be linked to Social Club and If I knew by logging into my account on steam would link it permanently I never would have bought GTA on PC to begin with and tried to play it from STEAM and it is now Pointless to even have the game on PC unless these issues are addressed and we have the option to Unlink our steam account so we can update it when necessary. I'm not Building A Rocket Boy. I'm just asking if you can Unlink my steam account from this Rockstar Social Club Account so I can link it to the proper account. It shouldn't be rocket science.

Here i even made an example of what needs to be done instead of making me contact support and dealing with this issue for how many hours now when it should have been a 5 minute fix.

As I am not the only one this the same problem and I have read countless different reports on the internet from players on Steam having the same issue adding an Unlink button to Steam Linked account on Social Club would be the right solution to help anybody else in the future fix this problem without needing to submit a report ticket. As you are going to need my Steam ID64 and proof here is the screenshots you requested.

I have played story mode on PC for 716 hours on Steam and even gave the game a good review at first as I enjoyed it but Haven't played the online as much as I do not want this account linked to my steam account. I want the account I use on PC linked to my PC steam account. I don't care about porting over the save progress as I already migrated it to the Xbox Series S. So, I didn't lose my progress from Xbox 360. All I want is this account Unlinked from Steam so I can link Steam to my J****** (PC Account)

I do not use my Xbox Account to play games on steam. All my other games on steam are linked to my J**** Gamertag and Profiles. To keep my J***** account active on Social Club I just want to link my Steam Account to my other Social Club account (J*****) so My progress can be tracked on the right account instead of being tracked on this account. As this account is only used for the Xbox One S and the Xbox Series S. The Email address I used to setup this Social Club account isn't used for any games on PC it's only used for my Xbox Series S and Xbox Account that I buy Digital Games on.

I setup steam before they released the Xbox Series S and Xbox One and I used ******** account to set up my steam so when playing story mode it linked this account to my Steam Copy of GTA V and now I can't link the right account I wanted to link to my Steam Account because it's been linked to this account and got bound to this account only instead of just giving me a button under Linked Accounts to UNLINK from STEAM! My J***** account is my PC account. S***** is my Xbox Account. This is beyond enough information to help you find a solution for all gamers like me that have ran into the same problem to stop other people like me from needing to deal with this hassle.

I even drew you a picture so you can see what needs to be done by adding an Unlink Option to Steam Linked accounts like there is on any other linked account. Hopefully this is feedback that can help you guys find a solution for all of us gamers that get stuck dealing with this issue and we can stop other people like me from having to contact support every time we need steam unlinked from an account. Thanks in advance if you're able to help me unlink steam from this account. So I can link the right account and hopefully you can use this information and support ticket to get a better understanding of why players have 2 accounts nowadays with PC & Xbox not being kept under the same Email or account information. As steamers like to have a PC account for Streaming Games that is separate from Xbox Accounts used to play with Friends and Family.

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support.

We understand that you want to unlink and re-link your Steam account from S****** to J*****

The entitlements to play GTAV are tied to both the Social Club and Steam accounts. These accounts must remain linked or you will not be able to play GTAV or GTA Online with either of these accounts.

If we were to unlink your Steam account from your Social Club account, you will not be able to play GTA Online as well as GTAV with your Social Club account, even if another Steam account is linked to it afterwards.

However, if you would still like to proceed with the Steam unlink, please get back to us with the following information:

The Social Club nickname you don’t want to be linked to Steam anymore
A screenshot showing you logged into Steam, with your Steam Profile name and Steam ID64
Sign in to Steam
Click on your Steam Profile name at the top right corner of the window and select “Account Details"
Take a screenshot showing your Steam Profile and Steam ID64 clearly visible on the screen
Confirmation that you understand that unlinking the accounts will result in being unable to play GTA Online as well as GTAV with either of these accounts.
Screenshot needs to be shows full window of your screen
When replying, please reply through your email instead of through the Support site.

Once we have this information, we can continue with your request. We greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation during this process.

Best regards,

Logan B Rockstar Support

I already sent it read the support ticket and you will see the files I sent already. but here they are again. This is my Steam ID64 and everything else you asked for plus a photo of what needs to be added to the Steam Link under Linked Accounts so I don't have to spend 5 days trying to fix something that should only take 5 minutes.

"If we were to unlink your Steam account from your Social Club account, you will not be able to play GTA Online as well as GTAV with your Social Club account, even if another Steam account is linked to it afterwards."

Forget about it you clearly do not know how to support your players and customers that buy your games so no just don't unlink it because you guys have no cule how to build a proper PC game on steam. Therefore just forget about it and I'll just count this as a lost and scam of 69.99 for GTA Online for the PC Steam version and I will change my review and explain all this in my review waring other players not to buy the PC copy of GTA V to play the online because you can't unlink it from steam like you can unlink it from Xbox gamer tags. unlinking my account shouldn't stop me from being able to play the game online on the PC you need to fix your PC version of the game and these elements that now make my PC copy of GTA V trash and unplayable.

Steam link is permanent, only times they'll will unlink it if there is actually a issue or you accidentally linked a wrong account.

If you where banned in online then they will definitely not do it.

Anyway, when they unlink your sc acc from steam is true you can't play gta anymore since the key tied to said account is gone. Not really a rockstar issues but more a issue of steam since the activation key is a one time key.

Idk what's your problem? Just use that linked account. You can rename it if you don't like the name.

If unlinking was easy, then people get banned on steam, they would unlink and relink to another social club account that is not banned. It's a really common thing for cheaters to try. So this is why they make this so hard and for no other reason. It can be frustrating. Just play with the new account, as you cannot transfer a character over to PC, so all your stats will be different anyway since you will need a new character.

Unlinking your accound SHOULD be a hassle because... that's their copyright & ban protection. And IMO rightfully so.

I did link the wrong account but they don't care. Just going to use the PC account for modding my Single player now don't care to play the Online on PC as it's pointless and I'm not playing on a linked account i have no interest in playing on the PC version is just as abandoned as the 360 version of the game. The Single player is amazing with mods, however I just wanted to link the Social account I actually use and I'm active on as I do not use the Social Account it's linked to. and It's a Rockstar & Steam Issue because they can not work together to come to a solution to players that have ran into this problem and can't unlink their account. The Steam Key shouldn't have anything to do with online Social Club information as It's only to activate the game. There is other games on steam that you can link and Unlink your accounts on no problem. You can even link and unlink from Xbox Gamer Tags, Twitch accounts etc. the only one you can't un-link from is STEAM. Which is an outdated concept as most people nowadays have more than one account. One for Live Steaming while gaming and one for playing with their friends and family.

They should just try and fix this issue or admit they have problems with the PC version and can't create a simple solution instead of giving the players a run around for 5 days trying to unlink the account after in the info spot under your steam link says to contact support. They make these issues by selling the game on 7 different platforms without a way to properly manage these profiles games like RuneScape and many others you can log into more than one account. What if you and your girlfriend/wife or brother wants to play on his/her account but can't afford the game and you let them play on your steam account so they can have fun playing the game, you gotta risk letting them play on your profile instead of their own because you can't log into another social account once it's been linked to STEAM. That is just backwards logic and a greedy way to force people to buy the game more than once.

however this is more less just an awareness discussion for anybody else that may run into the same issue. I already called the Online PC version of GTA for Steam Dead Content and Will just use the PC version for LSPDFR and other mods on GTA5mods. Anyways thanks for the friendly feedback and sharing your opinion and I enjoy reading any opinions from our gaming community as you guys are just like me a supporter and player that makes these games a success. When our issues get ignored and overlook and these issues are still existent even years after the games release it shows the lack of support from Rockstar and Steam both when it comes to modren day gaming and linking games to Social accounts and Profiles. You pretty much gotta read all the fine print, dot the I's and cross the T's just to make sure you're not being taken down the rabbet hole.

I got a very important question. I linked my old steam account with my currently Social club account many years ago to play GTA 4. Now I bought GTA 5 on a steam account that I use. After unlinking that old steam account I'm able to play GTA 5 if I never played before on the old steam?

Unlinking a account will make you lose your game and also being able to even start it.

Rockstar will warn you about it also. Do not do it. If you go ahead of with this then you are essentially bricking your own steam account permanently forever.

Well it is possible but I am not going to hold some random steam users hand and walk them trough the eternal flame 🔥. I have better things to do than waste probably nearly two months with this. The game is dead practically at this point and will die a slowly but painful death.
