How do I progress story mode?

I'm trying to play story mode but cant progress it.
There's no F, M, or T for the characters on the map. the last thing I remember doing is stealing the sub from the docks and from there the story just kinda stopped.
what do I do? I've also already called all of my contacts on all 3 characters and no one is picking up.
please help

last time i played the story is propably 6 years ago
but maybe youll have to do another mission. the letters are not related to the story they are to the mission host. like the S missions for frankling at the beginning.

Have you paid attention to the dialogue?

check and see if you put the phone on silent/sleepmode. (that stops all story missions)
its in the settings icon on your in game phone.

Call Franklin's sweetheart, forgot her name.. Tonia? At one stage of the game you need to call the girl. I kinda thought that was funny (I also got confused and didn't know what to do).

don't remember that. and i played through the story not even month ago .
the only time you ever have to deal with tonia is at the beginning of the game
when you are being a tow truck driver for her. the rest of her missions are optional.

Nope, they're not.

(edit): Lester's assasinations are also side missions and yet the first is required for the main story as well. Surely you didn't expect the story line to make any kind of sense? Because if you did... that ship sailed ages ago, storyline in GTA makes no sense anymore what so ever.

um? yes they are? ? ? i mean unless you are talking 100% ? then well yeah you have to do all the side missions and strangers and freaks for 100%
but literally there's one missions with tonia that is required.

you never need to call her unless you are going for 100%
when you walk outside as franklin she'll force you to do the truck driving mission
early in the game.


also about lesters hits. yes there's one that is required, just like tonia

I did and had to tow some cars. i finished that and now when i call there's nothing
