The GTA Online uses all of the same resources as the single player so it doesn't make sense to make them standalone
So, having the option to uninstall all GTA Online content, and just have the base GTA V would be very nice. Currently right now GTA Online is turning GTA V into bloatware if you do not want to play GTA Online.
It's a very stupid way of handling the game.
I used to ♥♥♥♥♥ about this back when the game first came out on PC. I'm still annoying GTA Online and GTA V still use the same .exe to launch as well. Then Rockstar took the exact same approach with Red Dead Redemption II. *Sighs*
While it is true that online uses all the assets form story mode you can't say the same anymore for the other way around. Tons of stuff in online which isn't available in story mode so I can well imagine that this is no fun for players who don't want to go online.
GTA online uses all of the same resources, but doesn't load all of the code from the singleplayer, plus it has disabled lines of code which it still has to load in such as the money trucks that have been removed, all of the random events from singleplayer which takes even longer to unload, the traffic being dumbed down, same as the graphics, it's just a big headache to have both of them at the same time.
The only problems i could see happening is that having both installed will take twice as much space and maybe the Self Radio.
