Grand Theft Auto V Legacy

Why is GTA 5 not standalone?
I don't understand, making GTA 5 and GTA Online standalone is great, when you buy GTA 5 you get both of those, but two different things you can install, like them old games, it could help with space, load times, stability, just about anything graphics and engine related, how has nobody at rockstar thought about this?

if they were both standalone games then they would take twice as much storage space on your pc if they were both installed compared to having them both apart of the same game.

The GTA Online uses all of the same resources as the single player so it doesn't make sense to make them standalone

Would be kind of cool though to only install GTA V without the online part if you only play singleplayer anyway. The game with all online DLC is like 100 GB almost, while the singleplayer game would only be like around 50 GB or so or even less. At least at release it was about that size and that already included the online mode content as well at the time.
Well, I think the best thing for GTA V would of been allowing GTA Online to be optional DLC. Being to play GTA Online you need pretty much most of the GTA V content anyways but to play GTA V you need none of the GTA Online content. It should of been optional DLC. For example on steam disabling it would disable the content, uninstall it etc.

So, having the option to uninstall all GTA Online content, and just have the base GTA V would be very nice. Currently right now GTA Online is turning GTA V into bloatware if you do not want to play GTA Online.

It's a very stupid way of handling the game.

I used to ♥♥♥♥♥ about this back when the game first came out on PC. I'm still annoying GTA Online and GTA V still use the same .exe to launch as well. Then Rockstar took the exact same approach with Red Dead Redemption II. *Sighs*
Although I'm pretty invested in GTAO and download speeds no longer concern me (it's already installed) I definitely agree that it would make sense if players were given a choice.

While it is true that online uses all the assets form story mode you can't say the same anymore for the other way around. Tons of stuff in online which isn't available in story mode so I can well imagine that this is no fun for players who don't want to go online.

They would take twice as much storage, but i've never seen anyone interested in BOTH online and singleplayer, plus, even if it took twice as much storage, it's not like the consumer won't know that, due to them being standalone it's pretty obvious they have "different" files.

GTA online uses all of the same resources, but doesn't load all of the code from the singleplayer, plus it has disabled lines of code which it still has to load in such as the money trucks that have been removed, all of the random events from singleplayer which takes even longer to unload, the traffic being dumbed down, same as the graphics, it's just a big headache to have both of them at the same time.

The only problems i could see happening is that having both installed will take twice as much space and maybe the Self Radio.
