This is a better idea, especially for a solo player
No you don’t have to buy crates at all if you don’t want to.
Beware though: some people claim that you should always buy 3 crates at once, but that's actually not true. It can help you fill up a warehouse faster, sure, but it will also eat away in your profit. The best strategy is to buy 1 crate for the small warehouse & 2 for the medium sized. It will take some time (but then again... if you go back to back you'll have the medium sized filled up halfway when the small one is full), but the advantage is that you'll maximize your profit.
As an added bonus: getting less crates also takes less time, simply because the missions are a lot easier (example: with 3 crates you'll get a 3 star wanted level when dealing with the cops, if you get 1 or 2 crates it'll be 1 or 2 stars). But on that subject: as soon as you reach your warehouse the level is always dropped to 1 regardless.
Crates is simply a better way to get started because you can sell at any time you'd like. And the investment you have to do is minimal at best.
Heck: one sight-seer mission (pays 18k) is already enough to cover the costs for these purchases....
(edit) Forgot to mention... another huge advantage with this setup is that if you fail a sale mission (some can be brutal, like the ones where you need to make airdrops and get attacked by buzzards) then you won't lose everything at once. Even if you lose everything you'd still have your other warehouse and its contents yet if you had bet on a single horse.. "auch".
If you are gonna take the plunge, then yeah just buy a large. That way you got options for how much or how little you want to fill it.
Not true.
Bunker is passive import export is active. They are not mutually exclusive since they don’t overlap.
Though this is probably not the most efficient way to do import/export.
