Will I get banned if I use reshade 3.0 in online?
I want to make my game look a bit nicer, but I also like playing in online.

They said they won't ban for a visual change like that, but I find that it just crashes the game anyway, or just cause endless loading screens. Just stay away from FOV mods.

I wouldn't risk it.

That article is not from Rockstar, and is wrong. This article is from Rockstar...

All mods are strictly forbidden in GTA Online. From the article,
"As a reminder, any attempt to tamper with the behavior of GTA Online by installing or executing mods, scripts, or other exploits, modifying the game files or manipulating the game in any way while it is executing will result in disciplinary action including but not limited to time in the cheater pool, bans and potential suspension of your account."

Its strange, because at one point, like 4-5 months ago, I had an ENB installed. No problems. In light of recent events, im scared of installing reshade.

Any mod even a txture one will result in your account being banned . Read the TOS and EULA .
So yes you will be banned if you use this mod and play online.

Thats because it doesn't actually modify the game files or anything into GTA. It works between DirectX and Windows.

That article is not from Rockstar, and is wrong. This artice is from Rockstar

Only, they actually did say it.

http://wccftech.com/gta-cosmetic-mods-bannable-offense-hilarious-gravity-gun-mod-released/

Actual email:

http://cdn.wccftech.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/GTA-V.png

If they're backing off on their word, then fine, I'm already using my TV to produce (kinda) similar effects, as the game just tends to load endlessly after running the game once before an entire comp restart. Im just tired of dealing with it, but interested to know what happens to those who try with the updated versions.

You realize that this article is over a year old !
Since then, loot is changed !
R* changed ban rules ,and if you modify any game file or inject any thing in to the game while playing online, you will eventually get banned !
Do it on your own risk ! But then don't come here and cry that you got banned for no reason !

That's right, they changed the BAN rules. You get less strikes now. I'm not seeing anywhere where they specfically said they ban cosmetic mods such as Reshade AFTER the posted email. "You may not modify any game files or inject anything" is not a different stance from they've already been saying. I don't see this as them saying they don't want it anymore.

And I already said before it doesn't inject anything anyway. Still, here's someone explaining it better than I can:

I posted an explanation of this in another thread a couple days ago; the reason that SweetFX/Reshade is safe to use is because the game's anti-cheat isn't scanning for a .dll file as such, but it's scanning for modifications to the allocated memory assigned to the game process (or an attempt at it).

The easiest way to do that is to hook into it using a .dll but having the anticheat scan the game folder for any and every file that may or may not belong would be a nightmare to code, and more of a brute force method than is really necesarry. What if it crashdumps, or steam places a manifest file they didn't account for, for example?

That aside, Reshade/SFX has a .dll hook, but only for the DirectX rendering call between the game and the Windows OS. It's basically tagged on after rendering has been completed for a given frame as a global post processing effect, so no allocated memory is ever really modified and the game runs exactly as it would without the effects as far as the software is concerned.

That's exactly why things like MSI Afterburner and RTSS don't trigger the same result. It's also why the steam overlay won't capture SFX in use, because it's hooked into rendering earlier in the sequence than the post processing shaders are applied.

EDIT: FWIW I've played around 70 hours of the game, all but 1 of those I've had Reshade/SweetFX in the game folder. And a good chunk of that has been online play too. No ban. I'd say it's safe at this point.

Take it what you will. I use Reshade in nearly all games that I find that needs it after finding out (official) word that it was ok to use. I just don't use it in this one anymore because I can't get it to work decently and tired of dealing with it.

I guess you missed the part when I said I wasn't using it anymore.

Rockstars anti-cheat scans for more than .dll files. If there are any unauthorized files in the GTA game folder(s), you risk a ban. The person you quoted who "explained" it better is wrong.
