How do you start adventure studio? what universe?
So, in trying to launch adventure studio, it pops up a dialog box to "open the star control universe" ... so I navigate to Star Control - Origins\Assets\Universes\Origins\Origins.manifest_xml , the closest thing I could find that looks like it might be the right thing to open, and it generates an "unable to open" error. I can't find any documentation indicating where you're supposed to find the file it wants at this step. Any help?

When you first open Adventure Studio it will be looking for a directory. This is the Assets directory where your game is installed.

Here's the documentation:

Right, I point it at that directory and still get the error ... **shrugs**

Originally this was intended to be rolled out with v1.1. But it is still too easy to (ahem) make mistakes that would allow the mod to work on the player's PC but break on other people's PCs.

Adventure Studio (I think) is in your Star Control directory. Just be careful. :)

This isn't working for me either. it want a FILE.. not a directory.. and it's asking for a manifest file.. I pointed to to varies ones and it errors out

This is what it wanted (path is for my system)

F:\SteamGames\steamapps\common\Star Control - Origins\Assets\Universes\Origins\Origins.manifest_xml

A year later, and this still hasn't been answered? What gives? How do we get this Adventure Studio working? I get the same error as the OP. Do we need a template manifest_xml file to use? This Origins.manifest_xml file simply gives the same error the OP posted about.

I just tried it. First point it your assets directory and then navigate to select the Origins manifest file in universes. It closed and then opening it a second time worked.

You are correct. It does indeed, if you select "YES" to open a different file, then select the same file.

Previously, on each of my attempts I clicked "NO" so I could go back to the menu and try it again fully. Each time I did that, it failed to open it. Now that I have successfully opened it "once", it seems to go straight to it each time. Sounds like you guys weren't updating the Windows "current directory" on the first attempt each time, and now it seems to have kept the previous successful directory stored somewhere (in the INI perhaps).

In my case if I press "YES" it again ask me select a folder first only then file. From the second attemp it ask me select a file.. Just endless circuit with this error.

update
It works for manifest file from the mod "Bounty Hunter". Adventure studio is opens.. But I don;t know how it will help me.. And weird that this manifest file from my mod doesn't opens..

update2
Well, I opened manifest file from my mod. Just deleted all cyrrilic symbols from this file (name and descriptions) and replaced on tthe english..
Seems Adventure studio works fine with "only english systems" and have conflicts witj other languages. Not sure why it not works with main file.. I no have any non-english folders for the file path and this manifest file also not have non english words..
