It's more like Star Control 2 which greatly improved on SC1
There was a Star Control 3, but we don't talk about it. All I can say is that it was slightly better then Masters of Orion 3.....slightly
This is a spirtual sequel set into a different universe but using similiar mechanics to SC2.
