I wouldn't trust IGN to report that snow is white. The other reviews look good however, purchased!

So the planet mining is not horrible and lots of fun then? :steamfacepalm:
Gamespot was a 6

I wonder if IGN and Gamespot are crapping on the game for political reasons.

If you actually read the review, it is because of the boring planet sequences of mining and battling along with driving controls during said sequences which make up most of the money making in the game are tedious and boring.

The planets aren't your primary source of income. It's the missions.

Just because there are thousands of planets doesn't mean you should land on all of them.

It's sort of like in Skyrim. Sure, you can break into everyone's house and steal their stuff but why would you?

The planets are there as quest destinations and givers. I mean, if there's a really good planet, go ahead and grab stuff. But only around 10% of the game time should be spent on the planets (Based on the founder feedback).

So if you go by someone else's playstyle then you should be fine? Or do you mean the game is linear? Or are you saying the game mechanics for the planets are boring and repetitive that they should be ignored if possible?

As the guy who reviewed this game for Game Watcher, I’ll admit that the ground stuff wears out its welcome rather quickly. It definitely is the weakest point of the game. However, it’s only really relevant for half the game, and decreasingly so. Missions give most of the credits.

That being said, if/when Stardock looks at overhauling aspects of Origins, planet exploration needs to be a priority.

Indeed. We are definitely listening to feedback. In our testing, most people spent less than 10% on planets. But we certainly would like to make every part of the game fun for the widest range of players.

I think there is a tenancy for people to want to get "all the gold" so to speak and that can feel really grindy. We'll be giving it some thought.
We need some reviews from people that havnt played the originals, people get overwhelmed with nostalgia and dont seem to fully appreciate it for what it is.
IGN - zero trust
gamsepot - zero trust
polygon - trust even a word here?
so on and so on

and i trust player reviews even less than the ones you mentioned, hopefully acg or mack will upload a review soon
