By amazing coincidence, I do have a court order ready... all I have to do is call the Greek bank that's holding it for me in my safety deposit box... oh.

While we wait for the Greek banks to re-open, I'll point out Super Tranch Attack which has a similar mechanic to RWR and yet uses mice and XBOX as controller options.
im using xbox 360 conroller via xpadder and it works a treat...Left stick for movment, left trigger for crouch, left bumber as use key (F), left stick down (space) 4 spare binds on d-pad, roccat kone+ mouse for aiming and multiple other key binds...plays and feels really comfortable...

I thnk this could be great for this game. The top down style soo suits it. Anyone else think so?
Absolutely not. Unlike other top-down games (eg: Hotline Miami, Space Pirates and Zombies), where the crosshair is used merely as a directional pointer for your line of fire, this game's aiming mechanic has to also account for firing depth. In essence, you don't shoot where you're pointing, but rather at what you're pointing. So you'd have to use the aiming stick on the controller just as you would use a mouse cursor, which would be grossly uncomfortable and inefficient.

Imagine aiming with pixel-accurate precision, but instead of a mouse, you're using a thumb stick. That's why it wouldn't work.

Is there controller support?
I have a bit of hours into this game, and I just found this Xbox controller, and I thought it will be cool to use it in Running with Rifles, I downloaded the software from Microsoft.com for Xbox controller support, I plug it in, I played other games to see if it actually worked. So I then jump onto RWR thinking it would work, but I don't see anything to change the keybindings.

I kind of did in my post in that thread, but okay.

You know how in most top-down games, when you aim somewhere, you're basically only aiming in the sense that you're pointing where you're shooting on a 2D plane? Well RWR is a bit different, because it's actually a 3D game that you're viewing from a fixed, top-down camera perpsective.

So let's say that you're on flat ground, with a building in front of you. In a regular top-down shooter, regardless of whether you aim at the ground in front of the building, or at the building's roof, your bullets will travel straight and impact the side of the building at your character's level. But in RWR, aiming at the ground in front of the building will actually shoot at the ground, and aiming at the roof will aim your gun up and shoot higher, with the bullets either impacting the building on one of its upper floors, or going into the sky, depending on where on the roof you aim.

In essence, aiming in RWR accounts for height and depth, meaning that each individual coordinate that you point your crosshair at on your screen will result in a unique bullet trajectory. So imagine having to position your crosshair very specifically at very precise locations on your screen using a control stick; it wouldn't be anywhere near as quick, simple, and comfortable as it is using your mouse.

To give another example: imagine navigating your computer desktop or internet browser using a thumbstick to control the pointer.

Will this game ever have controller support added, one day?

Eeeh, no controller support is that true?
Really interested, but I'm not moving my game setup out of my living room.
ffs, why would you develop it like this if it's leaving out most gamers with controllers.

I don't mind devs supporting mouse+keyboard. But they need to step out of this mindset of just supporting gamers on a desk. I have a big media room and frankly there are many of like me. Just look at the direction that Steam is taking with Steamlink, big picture, etc.
