speed 100 in shipyard 30 in the water
trying to put together my first t4 build got myself a tugboat , im getting only a fraction of the speed the shipyard told me i would. is this that odd power stat that hasnt mattered before and i need some funnels/ intakes?

and second question re intakes and funnels does it make any difference which you sue or how many like do you need one funnel per intake ?

You've got to do the math, unfortunately.

Anchovy Trawler has 225k base engine power and 30 knots base speed. Let's make an example:

You add enough flat speed to hit 90, but without adding more engine power, let's say you only *actually* hit 60. That's 66% of your top speed. That means you only have 66% of the required engine power. You would need to add 76,500 engine power, for a total of 301,500. This should in theory allow you to reach your top speed of 90.

Allegedly the type of engine power (outboards, funnels, intakes) can make a difference, but I haven't personally noticed that yet.

thanks that actually make sense ;)

The other issue you have to look into it is the tonnage (weight) your ship has. Adding additional parts to a ship’s hull will start to negate the speed . It is a trade off, It's possible to play around with it but the weight to increase speed is always going to be something to look at.

Yeah bro is exactly right. Or you can do what most of us do which is completely ignore the base speed numbers and consider them more a 'suggestion' than anything based in empirical evidence, and fart around with fans, funnels and intakes until you get the speed you want :)

Yeah I mean I've never actually DONE the calculations for a ship; just slap on funnels until you zoomzoom, but if ya want to do maths there's the maths :D
