Helpful tips i found while playing.
1. cannons are king, mgs are useful for boarding

2.Mysterious barrels near rock formations are a great source of medallions and respawn.

3. The best combat ship would consist of metal bow and stern, then wood/ a bit of metal on the broadside, this is to keep the tonnage to where you wont sink with a few breaches but be still protected fairly decently and keep the repair cost bearable( wt ptsd) Remember to switch sides so damage is spread out.

4. You are artificially capped to high end tier 3 weapons and armour, because the material costs are insane for high level stuff, this is a barrier to stop players from getting too much of an advantage by playing early and get the players to keep playing, i believe this isnt a bad thing as it tests the waters.

5. Mark out grids on your map where high level enemies, tier 4 and 5 ships spawn using guides so you dont get softlocked into a death loop trying to get your stuff back.

6. Be greedy, dredge every weapon and chemical zone, use a specialised fast ship that can fight lower level enemies to get there before players do, you will thank yourself later.#

7. To farm materials, gather every bit of seaweed and everything except wooden trash, dismantle things like engines to gain metal scraps, they are valuable, think of yourself like your a Romanian, the scavangers in the south east are great as they flood easily, just focus fire on a hull, keep your distance.

8. Speed is not that important for heavy combat, it messes with cannon aim as youd be hitting waves more and makes your repair costs significantly higher, a ship with higher hull health would be better.

9. Remind yourself this is early access, things are going to break, just bear with it, relogging solves things usually.

10. Dont rush the game, you will hurt yourself even more by getting into high tier areas then complaining that your level 2 torpedo boat/longboat cant fight tier 5 enemies, get level 2 cannons and decent side armor ( wood is best as its cheap and offers decent protection, dosent sink your ship also)

11. Store stuff at your base, like there isnt a session where i dont see a new player only having 10k weight free for flooding.

12. Remember to dismount all your stuff before boarding and transfer them to the other ship, then fight/transpond your ship outta there, grab a dinghy to fetch your old hull if you think its valuable as a dredging ship.

13. Remember, its not a retreat its a tactical withdrawl, feel free to use players to help you kill enemies and using your stern to tank shots ( because you armoured it) is a very good tactic.

14. Stay moving, when fighting against weapons with slow travel speed, changing speeds at long range is good enough to dodge it.

15. Just have fun, you dont need the baddest ship, feel free to build a ship with good aesthetics instead of maxing killing potential, remember if you have superstructures to protect things like your generators and batteries, weapons have wallclip so dont worry about the position.

If you have any other helpful tips post them down below

If your fighting a enemy that is using missile launchers, hull won't matter since its the stuff on your deck that will take the pain. Yes the missiles can be shot down, but if your fighting 2-3 boats with missiles, stuff gonna get damaged.
Did find a spot where a patrol group of gatling boats and 4 hoverships that use missiles instead of grenades spawn.
Very curious if those hoverships can be obtained since you can shoot their people off, but tend to die somewhat easily, or you die easily against them depending on the setup.

What about the material for the deck? Always plastic?

No, if they only have hp they cannot be captured, and i mean mark out danger sectors since i got ganked by 4 t5 ships twice

Usually yeah, if its protected bya superstructure than plastic, if not then a mix of plastic and wood( wood on the bow and stern areas)

Tell, is there any reason NOT to run echo sounder at all times? I don't see it affecting the speed or anything significantly, maybe only turns, not sure?

Ok, but why not in English?

Потому что в отличие от форума и дискорда игры, тут не запрещено говорить на других языках помимо английского. У тебя какие-то претензии к моему родному языку?

This is an English thread, create another for Russian if you wish.

Thanks!
Had recently done a tech quest that made me spend 5k corks. Not gonna lie, most of my money had been from selling water, but after noticing how much wood I had, I took almost half of the wood I had, sold it, and now have over 100k corks lol. Think I know why the traders all don't actually sell resources yet.
The only thing I'd add immediately is that you SHOULD get the wood trash because you can sell the wood scraps (since you'll have a metric tonne of it) for corks, so really, salvage everything, including wood trash.
Prices are variable, wood can be sold for 1 to 4 corks. I marked the location that buys wood at 4.
You can put a thingie that makes water on your boat, water sells for around 50 corks(not enough water in waterworld).
You can buy a welcoming kit from the base store than has 10 insurance(i think) and other stuff. You can only buy the welcome kit once but you dont lose your cargo when you die.
Power generation is better than fans since you want to travel long distances not sprint for 10 seconds. Most of your deaths will be because you arrived at the location without power.
Loot everything if you have a fast ship, loot less if you are slow.
Hide your guns and electrical stuff behind wood fences or objects, its very hard to repair guns or electrical stuff with copper
Please add tips for how to level up (where to put the points). I recently hit lvl 15 (and leveling after that kind of stops), and I feel like I've messed up my skills as I dont have points to capture a T3.

And tips on how to actually capture a boat. I swear to god, the helmsemen are immortals and every boat easily speeds away as soon as I've taken out the guns.

Other than that, excellent guide and I thank you for the many tips :)
