When do I get 3rd & 4th party members?

As the title suggests, I've done Helsor & I'm heading to the mine.
I really dislike having 2 characters, I want a third or even a 4th.

Also in a personal preference, not being able to access a nekaroo for such a long time kinda makes the huge open maps boring/annoying

I agree with you about the Nekaroo, it took far too long to give you one after it took the first one away. Not sure when it unlocks, but using the fast travel (press T when you're stood on a save point) takes a lot of the pain out of travelling around the map.

To get your first extra party member you need to focus on the main quest once you get the quest to find your sister's master, you reach a city and speak to a fortune teller, she eventually joins the party.

Approx how many hours more?
I went from the storyteller past the town to the nekaro farm (Which was closed until I complete the mine...) and I'm about to double back to go into the mine.

To be honest I can't remember with any accuracy, depending on difficulty and how long the battles take based on that you're probably looking at a few hours of gameplay, if you're ignoring side quests and avoiding as many battles as possible.

Once you've got her you can stay in the area to finish off things you've avoided.
