Tips on lowering infiltration times:
- More soldiers increase times the most, therefore smaller teams are good for low-window missions. Not all missions should be taken of course. Total stealth runs are viable unless they are missions specifically for killing enemy troops (convoy raids, troop ambushes, ect). Generally non-heavy combat oriented squads should stay below 7 people.
- More heavily equipped units have longer infiltration footprints. This can be anything in the gear slots, from armor plating to grenades. Reducing this will (slightly) reduce that soldier's footprint.
- Suppressors decrease infiltration times when equipped. Maximum bonus to elite suppressors.
- Chameleon vests decrease infiltration times. Though generally not used in favor of armor plating.
- Shinobis have the "tradecraft" perk which significantly reduces that soldier's footprint.
- Officers when consistently working with the same squad will begin to passively reduce the infiltration footprint of the entire squad over the course of repeated missions. The bonus will only apply as long as that officer is leading the squad (note: higher ranking officers will supercede lower ranking ones, negating the bonus if the lower ranking officer is the consistent one).
- High ranking officers can get a perk that significantly reduces squad infiltration time. Forgot the name.
Mission detection_(Thank you frankie for reminding me)
- Assigning rebels of a haven on the 'intel' task will get you missions, generally much sooner. 6 is the optimal number, as the returns from any more than that are very little and those rebels would be better off assigned to other tasks.
- Assigning a scientist can also help you detect missions sooner, though the aforemention 6 rebels will detect most missions in more than ample time.
- You can spend intel from your resource pool to double the infiltration rate of a squad. This can be done at any time and will give you the same return no matter what. So if your squad only gets 60% infiltration by the time the mission timer hits zero, you can spend some intel and get that readiness to 120% instead. I recommend only using this when necessary, its better to get under the line be default in the long run.
- Not directly related but, assigning 6 rebels to intel in every haven will result in A TON of missions popping up all over the globe. Only pick the ones that are necessary to do, and try to have one squad in reserve for emergencies (such as a sudden haven attack).
That's all that comes to mind at present. There are probably a few tips I forgot. I will edit this list as I find them.
Infiltration rate can go up to 200% which is the maximum bonus. The high the infiltration rate, the less enemies there will be and the smaller their detection radii will be.
Note that some missions such as convoy raids might actually be advantageous to engage with very low infiltration (more enemies means more corpses to collect), as long as your squad is capable of handling the increased enemy presence of course.
Another thing you should consider is cutting corners where possible, like snipers dont really need any plating or medkits if you use them wisely (Utilizing squadsight whenever possible). An item roughly removes or adds one hour of infiltration so have that in mind.
At some point you will also encounter a mission (HQ assault) that has no expiration date and you can go full-death squad there but beware if you really commit your troops to be as lethal as possible (heavy weapons, mechs, all slots filled with vests, medkits and grenades) you might end up with infiltration timer of +18 days... Due to the difficulty of this mission its generally reasonable to send your best there. But for those +18 days you are vulnerable when "harder" missions pop up while they are too busy. Like Heaven retaliation mission....
Good thing is that you can, at any point recall your troops back (even from normal missions) to fight that back.
As for the mini-retaliations, I've noticed advent strength needs to be at least 4 for it to happen, and the number of jobs PROBABLY needs to be 4 or above to trigger a retaliation in that field. I say this, because I've only ever had mini-retaliations as intel and supply raids, and every time I had 6 rebels assigned to that task (or more in the case of supply, but only 6 plus the haven advisor show up in the mission).
