Reinforcement pack
hello people,
I have war of the chosen with X-com2 and I see that the reinforcement pack is on sale on steam. It comes with shens gift, alien hunter, and anarchy's children. First, are these worth getting? also can i disable them if it don't like them or are the intertwined into the game. I turn off WoTC every other run. Can i turn off each individually?
I haven't modded anything yet but will they work with mods. I only want cosmetic/voice mods.

Do you have options on how they can turn up in game? Yes.

Do they work with mods? Yes, to the point it's more accurate to say that there's plenty of mods out there won't work without them.

----

Shen's Gift adds SPARKS to the game, big stompy robots that play a bit like a cross between a ranger (just without the stealth) and a grenadier.
It also adds the option for a new mission to unlock that that is good fun.
Just be sure to bring bluescreen rounds on any rifles and pistols, save any explosives until the last act, give Shen a medi-pack and remember that Shen's offensive abilities are on cooldowns and not limited use.

To get the option for the mission (or if you just want to be able to ignore this DLCs existence) turn off "integrated downloadable content" and directly select the option when making a new game.

----

Alien Rulers adds a mix of new equipment to the game along with some very powerful enemies (at least until you learn how to, fairly easily, take them out) but in turn also offers powerful rewards for taking them down.

STRONGLY recommend doing the same as above and selecting the option directly for a first go. The first location to turn up on the map (green scan site) should be grabbed within a month or two of it turning up and contains the first half of the new stuff. The white story mission that turns up after that contains the first of the rulers and kicks of them turning up in missions. So save it until you feel ready.
You get the rest of the new stuff when they are each defeated and autopsied.

----

Anarchy's Children is 100% cosmetic options that mainly exist to help your rag-tag group of ex-military/freedom fighters/resistance militia look a bit more like such terms describe. Helps to mix it up with the guys that look like spacemen/sci fi soldiers.
It also gives access to power armor that isn't shinier and less subtle than a twilight vampire. Just in case you wanted your stealthy people to look....well....stealthy.

You can find options in the Character Pool for how often you want it turning up in your campaigns.

----

A strong word of warning about mods. Most mods that work for Xcom2 will NOT work for WotC. The same is also true in reverse.
There's also far more option for WotC than there are for Xcom2, as most people don't hop back and forth like you do.

Also the two best mods for this game, that both help other mods to work while also acting as fan made bugfixes, are WotC only and are the only mods that can reliably be called "must haves".

The main one.

And the one needed when you have the Alien Hunters DLC.

One thing about being able to turn them off - once they are installed they are going to be in your game in some form. The only way to completely turn them off is to uninstall them. Which can be done individually, if there's one you particularly don't enjoy and just don't want to deal with. If they are installed there will be options in new game set up to determine how they will appear. These are slightly different if you are playing base game or WOTC:

Base game:
Default - enable the missions and it will go as Amanoob describes with the scan sites.
Uncheck the boxes for the missions - it sets the DLC content free. It'll still be in the game but without the intro missions.

WOTC:
Default - integrated into the game, the Alien Hunters content will be tied to Avatar facilities, no intro missions
Uncheck integration, check the DLC boxes - this enables the intro missions
Uncheck integration, don't check the DLC boxes - sets the content loose in the game from the start

People tend to think leaving all boxes unchecked means the DLC is not enabled, so they get surprised when it turns up at random. Just so you're aware, the only way to truly disable is to uninstall the DLC.

When I start Xcom from steam I get a launcher it has 2 circles to click one is X-Com 2 the other is X-Com 2 Wotc. That's what I mean by turning wotc off. When I played with just x-com 2 there was no wotc content. Right now I'm playing wotc but ibelieve i'll have to restart a new game because of the new DLC's I installed.
