So I always equip my psi-operatives with mindshields to prevent it from happening. Or, alternatively, deploy psi-operatives with Solace in pairs and keep them close together.
sounds to me you never seen it happen also? ehm sorry ofc not, since you wrote you use mindshields
And, like I said, if you don't have mindshields, two psi-ops with Solace will suffice.
As from some wikis, solace is like a mindshield :
https://xcom.fandom.com/wiki/Psi_Operative_(XCOM_2)/Guides
"Solace is an ability that essentially grants a Mindshield to the Psi Operative and all nearby units. Consider removing any active Mindshields on your units and simply use the Psi Operative to cure debilitating mental effects. Units within the Solace field are immune to all mental effects, and a Psi Operative that moves to fit a unit with a mental effect will be cured."
Ofc, fans can be mistaken, but I've never had one of my psi operative mind controlled, so I assumed they were immune (and I never bring 2 of them on a mission).
Even the official description suggests it grants immunity to the psy operative : "The Psi Operative is surrounded by an aura that immediately extinguishes or blocks any mental impairments for themselves and any nearby allies."
Note the "... for themselves" so the ability should "blocks any mental impairment for themselves" imo. They even mention "blocks" so it's not only an ability that should remove an existing effect. It should block them for the psi operative.
So if they can be mind controlled with solace, I think it's a bug.
Odd, as Mindshields only say "resisted".
immun in German is immune i think? I guess the used the same words for resisting when translating. Actually this makes me thinking. Maybe a mindshield does not make you immune because resisted means the roll to hit didnt make it? If a mindshield & solace both have rolls then maybe even with an extreme low chance ( <0.1% who knows) sometimes it can hit.
Mosspitt once demonstated this with katana's blade and poison to make the katana miss.
this is just theory. I dont know how to check the percentages of your units in this game :/
