Does Assassin use her shotgun as a regular attack?

Does Assassin use her Arashi shotgun even when she can hit her target with katana? Or she only uses it on overwatch and return fire if you missed(if she have the trait)? I personally never saw that happen.

There's a mod that makes the chosen much more dangerous with their AI, which makes it a lot more likely as well as the Warlock's gun. It also makes the hunter use longwatch instead of tracking shot.
