I started with XCOM2. Now I am playing XCOM2 with the extra content activated. When I'm done with that, I'll start WotC.

I'd go with original xcom 2 first with the DLC (if you have them.) If you don't have any other DLC except WoTC, you might as well start with WoTC.

Some people will probably recommend playing "vanilla" XCOM 2. I see no real reason to not play WotC if you have it. You're not really missing out on anything by adding WotC content.

In the end it's your choice.

I'm pretty sure people say that because the chosen can really kick the ♥♥♥♥ out of you when you haven't played the game before.

Does anyone know why so many mods don't seem to want to work on the vanilla side of the game when vanilla mods were made for it, and using WOTC mods require you to switch over to the WOTC launcher for a second and back to work? It's really aggravating for me, espically when the mods I'm trying to use are features that really should have already existed in the game like giving you a pure numbers option for health instead of those stupid pips.

This is true, but I suppose it also depends on the person. I still occasionally get my backside handed to me by the Chosen depending on the circumstances. But I always felt the vanilla game was actually harder due to very limited options to deal with the Avatar Project.

I would say play the "ordinary" xcom2 first. Reason is that xcom 2 or War of the chosen is more or less the same game, however you will encounter som "super aliens/rulers" that will be quite hard to beat and that you will encounter again and again.. So my advice play "original" xcom2 first and learn the game before you play xcom 2 or War of the chosen.
+ there are some new aliens who basicly is like the old but they are now upgraded and more tough ( there are no so many but sometimes you meet them )..

But all in all fantastic game, have fun.

Play full game. No reason to take content away from yourself, and WotC bring in a lot of additional content.

Also if you're interested in story make sure to untick "integrated dlcs" option when starting the game, and just tick the dlcs. They can be very hard but interesting.

Ok, so what I understood, when launching the game, WotC is the same as the base game just with extra content?

If so, that seems more reasonable to play, I don't want to replay the same missions.

Yes just additional content on top of same game.

Then this sounds like a no brainer, I will play WotC then. Thanks for your answers guys!

Wotc is the same Xcom 2 but with more stuff from the beginning to the end.

So, my suggestion is to Start base Xcom 2, and after some hours, if you like it, buy WOTC and restart again for the full experience.

I already bought full collection, I'll just start the game with WOTC.

Yeah, if you have already WOTC it makes no sense to play normal Xcom 2. Have fun mate

XCOM 2 came first and has less content overall, but also less complexity. So for newcomers it will be easier to grasp.

Once you have a grasp, the transition to the features of WOTC or LW2 will be a bit smoother, your choice as to which.

Not just that, the vast improvements in loading times and performance is only included in the War of the Chosen game version. The original XCOM 2 runs like crap in comparison. The game was known for being optimized very poorly. This was only fixed with the War of the Chosen expansion. If you run the base game, then you will still have the old unoptimized performance and longer loading times.

There really is no reason not to play the chosen expansion, as others already mentioned. It's the same game but with some extra content, some really good improvements and much better performance.

If the chosen are too strong, then try a lower difficulty first.
