XCOM 2

Is fan noise a big problem still?
I've read somewhere and including threads from these forums that some people complained about their fans making loud noises because of this game. I don't know if that is the case today because I want to make sure that my PC specs should be fine.

-Windows 10 Home (64-bit OS)
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
-Intel Core i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00Hz
-16 GB of RAM
-500 watt PSU

Fans being loud generally means they are running at their max capacity. Which in turn means the GPU and/or CPU are getting warmer, as that causes the fans to speed up.

This is all normal.

When they are loud, just means they are running fast and you don't have silent fans.

Thats not a game problem thats a hardware problem.

This game is heavy on both the GPU and CPU so if your fans are loud they are going to be loud.

Mine are quite and I dont hear a whisper more noise when playing this compared to other games.

I haven't actually played the game yet, as I only launched the game up to the main menu screen. My fans somehow immediately were loud at that point on. I might try again though, so I'm not trying to blame the game because of that.

The fans of this game haven't really been that noisy as of late. So, no problemo!

My PC used to crash because of overheat when I played XCOM2, fortunatly when I bought my PC I bought another fan just in case, my PC heat went from 100 to 80 and now it's good.

Not a problem with me. Like others have already said, that's solely a hardware issue. This game can be taxing, but so can a lot of other games.

In other words, if your PC is decent its a non-issue.

It's a graphically demanding game, on its highest settings. Mhblis said, you're describing more of a hardware issue, at that point. If Xcom2 does it, then other games of similar requirements will be doing it to your system as well. If your case has poor cooling, any game that puts a higher demand on the CPU and GPU is going to heat them up, and the hotter they get, the faster your fans spin - it's a simple as that.

This game really doesn't have any limit for GPU usage. I'm always at 100% (On Low & Medium, Above 60fps) and my fans sound like they are churing a damn reactor core but they stay at ~71C for temps so other then noise, It's not too bad. I also replace my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stock CPU fan for a water cooler for the exact reason for noise and temps.
