Using mods which add new plots? Can you open the console when the map's loaded?
Console command X2DebugMap, then click "show map" and it should give the name (which starts with Plot_).
As for mods and stuff: Well the really weird thing is, that as I wrote I actually got that bug on a mission I'd already started twice successfully and then it never went away even when exiting and restarting the game even though I loaded from the save quicksave made just before being shot down every time. I'm using the bronzeman mod BTW, that's why I didn't load an earlier save during the mission when things went south.
Troubleshooting: Mods not working properly / at all
Mod not working? Mods still have their effects after you disable them?
And if you use WotC and the Firaxis launcher: https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/wotc_modding/guides/fix_duplicateactivemod
If you're not try Verify Files in Steam, and/or try cleaning up your My Games config folder as described in those guies.
could try verifying your cache, but once it happens that save is probably dead.
You could also check your graphics card drivers, sometimes you need to update them, sometimes you need to roll back an update back to an update that worked.
Shame, I still had some people I wanted to save to the pool...
Also, I've noticed that when this bug occurs the game actually loads the previous map you played, meaning that if you played abandoned city map before the assault, you'll have your camera stuck in the middle of abandoned city map. So my guess its because of "more maps" mods.
If you know what you're doing please use Remove Missing Mods to trim down a pre-mission save file to only those mods which repeatedly cause this bug and submit a link on the Discussion pages of "XCOM Psi Overhaul" and "Quick Soldier Info". Use File Dropper for hosting, no registration required.
