XCOM 2
sharpshooter or reaper, which do you prefer?
For your sniper slot on your team which do you pick and why? Im having a hard time deciding.

So far, Sniper. Reaper is a much better scout. But from my LIMITED experience the sniper out damages her by a descent amount. I actually just started a thread about the damage difference.

Both of them :-) I used both Reaper (for scouting and special purposes) and sniper (for long range higher dmg kills). I also coludn't decide, so I used both, most of the time...

Reaper is not an actual sniper. It's not a choice between the two, they have vastly different roles. In fact, they work best when paired up (reaper spots, sharpshooter(s) kill)

That is xactly how it worked for me :-)

Sharpshooter.
WOTC added three problems and three solutions. Reaper is great for fighting the chosen (and is pretty good for general use), but personally i prefer the sharpshooter for day to day damage dealing.

Yea, but sharpshooter is best when having someone to scount for him... and here comes the reaper, unparalelled.. My A-team in endgame was Reaper-Sharpshooter-Templar-Skirmisher-Ranger-Grenadier... Yeah, no specialist... :-)

My guys are too good at getting shot, I really need a specialist lol!
I like the templar when i use her but she got evac’ed while bleeding out during an early mission, then spent the next 30+ days in the infirmary and never really caught up in ranks so doesnt get used much.
I think my playstyle is just too aggressive for the reaper. I find the first pod then open fire until the only life left is the cockroaches and pidgeons.

Both. They fulfill different roles. The Reaper works best at scouting, mopping up damaged mobs, and the instakill of pretty much everything with Banish.

The Sniper is much better as a damage dealer. Late game, the Sniper is a death machine. Especially, with WotC where you can really boost them with multiple abilities.

Reaper. I typically dont have a spot for Sharpshooters on my team. Mostly because their early game damage is also quite lacking; except they dont have utility damage and scouting.
I rarely level one up to the rank when their damage becomes good. (doesnt help that Sniper Rifles require additional resource/resources spend)

Reaper bar none due in part to their scouting abilities and the fact that their rifle only takes one AP to shoot.

Those are two different classes. I would say reaper + sharpshooter :) but reaper is powerful in many different ways. Remote start, Banish, Homing Mine, the silent killer, but it will never replace well-positioned sharpshooter.

I don't have a "sniper slot" and if I did I would never, ever consider a reaper for it, they lack any and all of the core sniper skills such as squadsight (except RNG luck on XCOM ability), long watch and serial. They also have poor gun damage and need to get close for claymore. Reapers and sharpshooters are two of the strongest classes, but they do utterly different things in the field.

A squad with 1 reaper and 2 sharpshooters is amazing though.

The class that gets supplanted by a reaper is the ranger.
