That is xactly how it worked for me :-)
WOTC added three problems and three solutions. Reaper is great for fighting the chosen (and is pretty good for general use), but personally i prefer the sharpshooter for day to day damage dealing.
Yea, but sharpshooter is best when having someone to scount for him... and here comes the reaper, unparalelled.. My A-team in endgame was Reaper-Sharpshooter-Templar-Skirmisher-Ranger-Grenadier... Yeah, no specialist... :-)
My guys are too good at getting shot, I really need a specialist lol!
I like the templar when i use her but she got evac’ed while bleeding out during an early mission, then spent the next 30+ days in the infirmary and never really caught up in ranks so doesnt get used much.
I think my playstyle is just too aggressive for the reaper. I find the first pod then open fire until the only life left is the cockroaches and pidgeons.
The Sniper is much better as a damage dealer. Late game, the Sniper is a death machine. Especially, with WotC where you can really boost them with multiple abilities.
I rarely level one up to the rank when their damage becomes good. (doesnt help that Sniper Rifles require additional resource/resources spend)
A squad with 1 reaper and 2 sharpshooters is amazing though.
The class that gets supplanted by a reaper is the ranger.
