As for Advent shieldbearers and the trouble they can cause--on my current playthrough they have 4 armor bars and it's nice to be able to eliminate that one threat quickly before a fight becomes much harder than it should be.
Sectopods can be dealt with in such a variety of ways--bluescreen rounds are nice to have, for sure--especially with a good offensive specialist on hand or a Spark unit with overdrive to do a bit of shredding.
One of the great things about this game is the amount of flexibility it gives players to handle problems.
That and early to midgame, bluescreen pushes damage through armor, negating the use for AP (on robotics)
Talons are still insanely good on snipers and rangers but generally AP rounds start losing use rather quick.
Not that I know of, but since you have a better judgemental sound perspective on the game, its possible that you are simply better at using it then I am.
Not every enemy unit is mechanized/robotic. Not every class has inherent armor shredding. Different tools for different jobs. There's a reason why the Shadow Chamber tells you which enemies are on a mission.
Armor Penetration rounds aren't without their benefit, however unless you can kill a target in one shot, or two shots; you will still need to shred their armor or the rest will deal less damage. Added to that, there's only few enemies in the game with 3 or more armor, even on Legend. 2 Armor or below and AP rounds are barely effective, only providing +1 damage compared to poison/dragon, and 3 less damage compared to Blue Screen.
Most of the annoying enemies in the game (Sectopod, second form Andromedon, Gatekeeper, Codex, Spectre) also tend to be effected by Blue Sreen.
Now you're just being pedantic again. I guess I should have used the word inorganic.
I can usually kill most enemies in one attack or two. That's sort of how this entire game has been balanced.
