Beyond that is a case of being aggressive in taking out the aliens. There's *usually* no more than 5 or so on those maps and the Lost can be dealt with by sharpshooters since their pistols don't require reloads (only shoot the ones you can kill in 2/3 HP)
Ah ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I really wish I'd figured that out... Seems obvious in hindsight. Good shout, probably gonna do better on a lot of my future missions. Thanks.
Also, marking crates doesnt cost an action, you only spend the movement points to get there.
Yeah I knew that, it's just that usually what'd happen is a crate would be marked, I'd run one of my guys up to it to get it and trigger 2 pods and several lost, leaviung that soldier in half-cover to get killed or dragged away by a viper. Now I know about the crates not getting marked in concealment.
Sometimes killing all enemies first is not a option. A example is the version without lost (so more advent) and a chosen/ruler.
Position your units. If you aim for A then put your forces into a ambush position. If you go for B then spread them out so you cover as many chests as possible. You can mark a lot of chests in the first turn (10+) and then retreat to a defensive position (perhaps with a explosive trap).
You'll have to make choices of leaving some crates to advent in order to kill the aliens. Typically its not possible to get all crates. Also, if your having a lot of trouble you can mark crates that advent hasnt marked as well. You dont have to get the ones they marked, just means advent gets them.
Personally I will skip this mission especially most of my squad are tired and wounded when playing in Commander difficulty. For more success in this mission try to defeat a chosen in a previous mission and make sure this is the territory of that defeated chosen.
Skipping some supply mission will lose some of your income but seems ok due to alien corpse you could sell on the black market.
- I also hate to say this, but enemies are almost always standing where they can see important objectives, loots, or good covers. They're programmed to guard them. So 2~3 squares from the crates are almost always safe, provided that you didn't stall for time.
- Toss the claymore and make the reaper shoot it herself in 1 turn, then you can clear 1st pod for free without breaking concealment.
- I always bring 2~3 gunslingers(templars or sharpshooter with +aim sims, +aim rewards from the ring, and spider suit) when the sitrep is 'Lost'
- Use 2nd floor. Zombies can't touch you if you block their paths by standing on the ladder, and gunslingers can get 100% accuracy on the 2nd floor.
Once all the enemies are dead, whatever crates left are yours.
Gotta go fast.
Alternatively use a Reaper or two to scout the map, then kill a few pods of enemies. Then position your squad to grab as many crates as possible in 2 turns without coming near any remaining enemies. Then bolt once the Chosen spawns.
