Can I get some tips on crate-marking missions?
So far every single crate mission I've done I end up getting 2 or no crates, and I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. It seems like the crates closest to you get marked first, and then it keeps going through the map away from you.

I've tried rushing to the the crates which usually leave my soldiers in half-cover with 2 enemy pods and lost activated, with no chance to fire back, I've tried taking it slow which of course means the crates get taken away before I get there, and I've tried to just as quickly as possible kill everything on the map before all the crates are gone, but that usually leaves me with 2-ish crates.

How do you guys do these missions? So far whenever I've gotten them I've basically just had to accept either loot and casualties or XP and no loot.

The crates won't start getting marked until you break concealment. Try to get a soldier to a crate with 1 move available and repeat the process across as many squad members as you can safely do. On your next turn, tag the crates you're next to and you'll be free to move again and/or shoot.

Beyond that is a case of being aggressive in taking out the aliens. There's *usually* no more than 5 or so on those maps and the Lost can be dealt with by sharpshooters since their pistols don't require reloads (only shoot the ones you can kill in 2/3 HP)

Ah ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I really wish I'd figured that out... Seems obvious in hindsight. Good shout, probably gonna do better on a lot of my future missions. Thanks.

Also you have to take notice to the fact that you can flag them even if you are out of move. It is considered a free action.

Crates get marked the turn after breaking Concealment and every second turn after that. Ideally you want to be moving and killing enemies during the turns when no crates are being marked.

Also, marking crates doesnt cost an action, you only spend the movement points to get there.

Yeah I knew that, it's just that usually what'd happen is a crate would be marked, I'd run one of my guys up to it to get it and trigger 2 pods and several lost, leaviung that soldier in half-cover to get killed or dragged away by a viper. Now I know about the crates not getting marked in concealment.

Either you focus on killing all enemies as soon as possible (option A) or focus on marking as many chests as possible (option B).

Sometimes killing all enemies first is not a option. A example is the version without lost (so more advent) and a chosen/ruler.

Position your units. If you aim for A then put your forces into a ambush position. If you go for B then spread them out so you cover as many chests as possible. You can mark a lot of chests in the first turn (10+) and then retreat to a defensive position (perhaps with a explosive trap).

You'll have to make choices of leaving some crates to advent in order to kill the aliens. Typically its not possible to get all crates. Also, if your having a lot of trouble you can mark crates that advent hasnt marked as well. You dont have to get the ones they marked, just means advent gets them.

Depending on difficulty, I suggest focus on destroying alien pods faster. Problem in this strategy Chosen are annoying and it takes a lot of turn to defeat them. Also it is far more better to preserve your force than focusing getting the crates.

Personally I will skip this mission especially most of my squad are tired and wounded when playing in Commander difficulty. For more success in this mission try to defeat a chosen in a previous mission and make sure this is the territory of that defeated chosen.

Skipping some supply mission will lose some of your income but seems ok due to alien corpse you could sell on the black market.

- I hate to say this, but enemies are programmed AI. If you don't kill 1st pod fast, they'll keep following you around in 18~20 squares radius. That's why you get 2 or 3 pods. So you should chase after 1st pod and wipe them out as fast you can.

- I also hate to say this, but enemies are almost always standing where they can see important objectives, loots, or good covers. They're programmed to guard them. So 2~3 squares from the crates are almost always safe, provided that you didn't stall for time.

- Toss the claymore and make the reaper shoot it herself in 1 turn, then you can clear 1st pod for free without breaking concealment.

- I always bring 2~3 gunslingers(templars or sharpshooter with +aim sims, +aim rewards from the ring, and spider suit) when the sitrep is 'Lost'

- Use 2nd floor. Zombies can't touch you if you block their paths by standing on the ladder, and gunslingers can get 100% accuracy on the 2nd floor.

Use the lure , lures is the best option on these missions..since you can get the ADVENT troops trapped in ALOT of lost and they end up fighting with the lost, also have the scout Elena Drugonova scout around for where you should drop the lures. With this you can grab chests...also troops that can grppling hook out of danger is also useful to grab those chests that are covered in alot of heat..

I don't even bother with the crates. You're better off trying to hunt down the enemies and only grab crates if they don't interfere.

Once all the enemies are dead, whatever crates left are yours.

Kind of annoying how you can see the crates, then they go to Advent control and there Advents half a map away.
Doing gens, you? Sep 11, 2017 @ 3:47pm
Bring grenadies, rangers, templars, SPARKs, anything or anybody that is mobile and that can blast through enemy pods and move through the map quickly.

Gotta go fast.

Just kill the enemies. If a Chosen pops up or too many lost are spawned, then grab any crates you can get and bolt.

Alternatively use a Reaper or two to scout the map, then kill a few pods of enemies. Then position your squad to grab as many crates as possible in 2 turns without coming near any remaining enemies. Then bolt once the Chosen spawns.

i agree i didnt care for these missions they instantly get two crates even after u break concealment i just didnt like that they didnt have to access it and that it just gave it to them ., had to do these missions a few times ., just try to grab as many as u can without possibly getting your units killed
