XCOM 2

Chosen Stronghold: Just how??? (SPOILERSPIOLERSPOILER)
How are u supposed to actually win this mission?
It takes several turns to kill a chosen once, while they deal guarenteed damage each turn, summon reinforcements in that need to be dealt with the turn they spawn or you will get rekt..., and once you killed them (once) you have 2 turns to fire that the Sarophagus, but how could you do that, if an Andromedon and a Elite Priest spawn in on turn 1 (remember, kill them asap or one of your soldiers dies or gets mindcontrolled. AAAAAAnd the next turn, 2 heavy mecs spawn in...
And so on and so forth.

I killed the Assasin 3 times now and dealt with all her minions, but i only got 1/4 of the Sarcophagus hp removed, no more meds, mimics, nades or rockets, everybody hurt adn surrounded by a codex, a elite preist and 2 chryssalids....

Oh and next turn the assasin will spawn again so im basically screwed...

So I ask you, migthy Xcom veterans , how to do it, and if the situation is still managable or if its campaign end ( This is my A-team, if they die i only have one A team and one D team left, with the assasin launching the base asault of hers soon)?

Info:

(Major)Specialist with everythin from hacker tree + medical revival protocol and extra medkit charges, hail of bullets, medkit and bluescreen rounds

(Captain) sniper with everything from sniper tree + lightning hands+ run and gun, battlescanner, spider suit

2 grenadiers (captain and lietenant) one with demolition skills, the other with gunner skills, one wears and exo suit

1 (lieut.)templar with reaper, aftershock and pillar,

1 (liet.)spark with everything from Tank tree (ded)

Thx for any help, advice or hugs (:D).
P.S: THATS XCOM; BABY

P.S 2: if you read this far, youre a rogue dissident who treatens the elders glory :D

I went up against the Assassin when I still had conventional weaponry.

So a lot of the stuff I could have faced was lower level than what your up against, not sure if it was any easier but I figure I'd rather be taking out Chosen before a lot of high level aliens show up.

As it is, my last Chosen will likely have Sectopods and its going to be a challenge.

Really not sure why the Chosen is wreking you so hard, but the Reaper class gets bonus damage against this one...Also its a good scout for finding the assassin.

It sounds like you have mag weapons and those are great for damaging the sacophogus and if you dont mind taking a hit on your guys should be able to down it in one or two turns.

When you kill the Chosen the final time it doesnt matter how many aliens are on the map, you win.

I really don't know what to offer. I have taken out both the assassin and the warlock with relative ease. Have u squandered all ur abilites on the previous area? Was assualting the stronghold vital (I.E chosen was planning on attacking the avenger as its event)?

I mean I could take out the Assassin in 1-2 turns, it really wasnt too hard.

Qns: What difficutly are you playing? Legendary?

Qns: At which months are you doing the chosen stronghold?

Short Ans: The game difficulty scale with number of months passed. So if you doing in Aug or later prepare to deal with the early late game aliens. If you do it in Dec, good luck with incoming sectopods in the Stronghold.

Hi there. What difficulty are you playing?

I bet them once and have now my second campaign, but only on normal, since I haven't seen all new stuff yet. So my tips may not be helpfull if you fight legendary or so...

I took everything what could attack mutliple times. Spark with overdrive, Skirmisher and at least one bound mate to give another attack. The sarcopharg felt in two rounds, right after the Assasin was beaten. Sniper with his ability to do 50% more damage for 25% aim does wonders, too, since the sarcopharg is always hit.

I never was there so late, that elite priests did spawn. Just had some specters and heavy mecs (from which I hacked one).

Try not to use your items on the way to the final chamber. I had my frostgrenade and flashbang, so one of it should have kept of an andromedon.

*hugs you*

My repaers wont get anything from her, since she got the dark event that removes ALL weaknesses, she also had 4 streghts at this point and is T2 or T3 herself :/.

As for the sarcophagus, just how can you do this in 2 turns? My whole mag squad fired at it once (rare moment with no choosen or minions .D) and it went down maybe 1/10 or 1/8.

Unfortunately my guys cant take any hits, since the eltie aliens/advent seemingly always 1 hit everything in half cover, which restricts my tactics very much :(.... im also out of heals, and they wear Warden armor.

The main problem is just that the assasin has guaranteed dmg every damn turn...
the hunter isnt nearly as dangerous as her, just any cover and hunker down and go...
assasin can half kill one soldier AND daze them AND run back to full cover in one turn :OOOOOO

Guess RNG just hated me on this mission with the enemy spawns :/

Yea, like Roderick said, use multiple attack skills on the sarcophage, chain shot, overdrive, deadeye was really useful too since it had a really high chance to hit still and does a lot of dmg. Also, bring someone that can dominate robots and hope that you get a mec unit to hack, will help immensely

And I'm playing on normal and I had 4 turns before she respawned

I'd say you waited way too long, in WotC there is no actual benefit to putting it off unless your farming up ability points.

All the missions that were ideal to put off in Xcom 2 vanilla are now not worth putting off cause the payoff for doing so is just 1 or 2 avatar points rather than the whole thing.
So I just rush stuff now cause I'd rather not be up against high level top tier stuff.

If it makes you feel better I restarted a few times, chalked it up to learning the ropes.

Yes I had to attack her or she would have gotten the base assault, which I have no clue how it works, so I didnt want to wait and see :D
Problem is that she always takes darn full cover that is undestroyable, while i had to spend all my explosives just to get to her, because every damn pod before the telepopter had 1 andromedon and 3 other highhealth enemies with AOE (mecs, purifiers, spectres) which means if you dont kill them asap you will die, since you cnat spread out and they just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you to ded)
So I arrived with everybody at like 3/4 health and only like 1 rocket left, which is useless gainst assasin since it doesnt destroy the cover (at least not indicated), still kiling her wasnt that hard.
Problem is the revival phase, where you just get two boss spawns 2 times (got 2 andromedons and 2 heavy mecs in two turns, so i have no time for the sarcophagus.

Deadeye missed on the sarcophagus, so i didnt used it again, instead refocused on not getting killed, same for cahinshot.
Overdrive wasnt doable due to my Spark being deded by a Heavy mecs explosives in the first revival phase, and my specialst was only a meh hacker (better at killng robots with combat P., bluescreens + hail of bullets

Problem is the game forces you to wait so long since you need a major to actually unlock the base assault, unless you somehow rapidly promoted someone so fast (if so tell plz how i need to know :D)

Did you not get any damage bonus research?

*Thx for hug <3* thing is i had to spend all items to even get to the room, since every pod before was basically just andromedons and mecs/spectres. Also deadeye inst guaranteed hit on the sarcophagus, had to see my catpain sniper fail hard there

Well uh, I built that spy ring and training center first...In first month I think.

So I got bonded pair going right away and developed that to level 2, reduces the time spent on missions by 1 day...put in engineer in there reduce time spent by 1/3

Then after that I took a bunch of promotion covert Ops to power level a guy.

Concentrated on finding the Chosen after that with my Bonded Level 2 team which had my highest level guy in it...
So I ended up facing off with just conventional weapons cause I barely had any research done.
